^^^ I agree with this guy. Don't do a ton of mods yet if you don't have much driving experience. You need seat time more than anything else.

I would take the car to a reputable tuner, and install a Catback, HFC, and tune though. That will give you plenty of power as you start to learn how to handle the car.

Whatever parts you get, make sure and get high-quality parts. There are a bunch of different ways you reach youre power goals. Just search and search, and get quality stuff. Don't buy cheap parts because you will just end up replacing them again later. Call up an awesome shop, such as CBRD , and discuss it with them.

Maybe he can't drive stick since this is his first car so getting gsr is out of the question. I would slowly upgrade, couple boltons and tune and later do the Big turbo and Sst tranny package. The fun is in the upgrading path.

Not to hijack or anything. But will a TBE and a tune really add almost 100 HP? If so, I am going to have to get on that. Or maybe I am doing my math wrong. The Evo is about 245awhp stock, right?

obviously this is dyno dependant, but I was at 264whp on a dynojet with my car 100% stock. I'm shooting for 340ish when I revisit the dyno with:
-K&N intake with UICP
-TBE
-TP
-ETS 3.5" FMIC
-ETS LICP
-GS 3port

and tuning on crappy 91oct here in the SW.

I have friends that were at 330whp with just intake, tp, and cbe. I think it's reasonable to get 10whp extra from the FMIC, but if I don't I wont have my heart broken. Of course I'm going to go back to the same exact dyno I did my baseline on too The numbers wont matter, the feel of the tune and %increase is all I care about.

My first mod other than suspension was an ETS intake. I love the sound but I don't feel a bit of difference. No tune though. Waiting for the TBE before getting a tune. Hopefully then I will feel something. Just feels so flat to me right now.

I agree completely. Try your hardest to forget any mods for now. Spend 10K on tires and seat time at autocross and track days. You'll have far more fun.

Don't get lulled into believing that you need to mod your car first, then track it later. Everyone who goes that route ends up buying all the wrong parts.

I agree it your new at driving go on a controlled environment so you do push your luck and get in wreck and destroy your car. Also are you worried about the warranty?

I've had my MR for less than a year and would really suggest going slow. I'm with everyone else about getting some track time especially lessons. Initially I've had installed a AMS dp, mil.spec HFC, ETS CATback and AMS intake with dyno tune. I'm at 314whp/317tq @ 24 psi. Next is is an AMS uicp and 3 port EBC, retune. next year AMS intercooler and licp. Some of my MOD money will go for some track lessons with a pro before I go any further. Will also need to buy another DD if I move to the next step of turbo kit cams, injects and SST clutch kit. You don't have to spend 10K all at once, put 5K in a high yeld CD or something.

Wideband (AEM or Innovate)
Cosworth air filter pannel / upgraded turbo inlet pipe
AMS down-pipe
Mil Spec 100 cell cat (https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...orted-ims.html)
Any decent 3" cat-back
Decent UICP
Get the boost pill or 3port boost (second option is great but boost pill runs smoother. :-) )
LICP
FMIC like an ETS or Perrin or AMS or Greedy
ID 1000cc or FIC 1100

AND GET A TUNE !!!!

...Just read you're in NJ...jst go to CBRD and call it a day :-)
