Daily Driver Weight Reduction.

So I know the x's are pretty heavy and I want to do some light weight reduction but nothing to crazy because I want to drive this comfortably everyday. I have stock navi and stock sub. I already took the spare and jack out unless I go on long road trips. What else could I take out that would be beneficial? I plan on getting the ams small battery kit. How much do front and rear crash beams weigh? Any other ideas? My goal is to get close to 3200lbs or close to Evo 8 weight. Thanks

I am interested in this as well. I hear that stock hoods on X's are just about as light as the CF ones. Is there any truth to this? would hate to fork over all that money for a hood and be the same weight...

IMO the stock hood doesn't seem that heavy, just take off all the metal and heat insulation on it. My goal is just to get near 3200

The hood on the X shouldn't be that heavy, it is aluminum.. Same with the roof and trunk lid I believe. Unless you have a sun roof, then the roof is steel.

One question though, why bother with weight reduction if it is just a dd, are you planning on tracking it?

I would suggest not dropping the crash bars, I mean they are there for safety.

You could swap the Recaro's out, they are *heavy*, also ditch the trunk items like the spare, jack, RF sub if you have it. beyond that you could pick up a set of lighter-weight wheels.

Just look in the engine bay. All the misc brackets just holding a clamp for a wire, or the random big fat zip ties that are essentially holding nothing. All good spots to look.

Probably not every weekend but plan on doing some tracking. Nothing too extreme for me in the reduction.

With stock seats? That's quite a bit of weight reduction. Stock is what, 3500?

Focus on wheels and tires. You'll feel that the most.
Then focus on the front end of the car. She's nose heavy.
Then midsection and finally trunk area.

I'm not counting spare tire and jack and such, I presume that's already been removed.

Seats front and back are heavy. So you could swap the fronts and take out the rear if you don't need them. Have you done any mods? You can lose weight with the exhaust. Get a lighter driveshaft.

Check on the "other" forum the weight reduction thread made
by Chet. He got his evo down to like 3100 or 3000lbs I think. Using Google doesn't hurt either lol

You could replace your stock GSR wheels with CE28N, saves 3lbs per wheel and replace the rotors with 2 piece girodisk rotors, saves 4lbs per rotor, that's 28lbs of savings. Along with removing spare and tools like you did, and a small battery that's about 75lbs total. I also wouldn't remove the crash beams as mention above. Safety is more important.

I just have to say that the idea of removing the zip-ties from a car that weighs 3500# made my day. Thanks.

Exhaust
brake rotors
Rear crash beam
spare tire and the rest of the trunk
Battery
stock seats
Fom here starts getting complicated.

Hahahahaha. Yea i was kind of perplexed by the zip ties also..

The junk in the trunk is easiest, and also free.. Also, if you have the big spoiler, that is quite heavy as well.

You can do lighter wheels, like RPF1s if you want to go cheaper.. A lighter exhaust.. Both the stock Catback and cat are pretty heavy. With a those replace you can cut down a good bit.. Especially if you get a single tip or a titanium exhaust.

Anything rotational, you will notice a difference.. Small light wheels, rotors, driveshaft, etc..
