Yeah man, just give it a good think and decide what's right for you. Seems like you understand the situation better than most, so I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you and your family.

Good luck, and by the way, that Evo MR looks great!!!

I got mine from Columbus North. Good luck on your decision
The Guys at Columbus Mitsu North treated me really well also. Wes and Kevin
Me personally, I'm not a fan of leases.

Thanks! Will keep ya guys up to date. I will most likely sit back down and look at the numbers as a buy too. I just hate buying cars right before body style changes. I asked them about getting into a 14 model and just waiting till november or december for delivery, and in the mean time putting another 5 or 6 grand down on it as a buy...

Navi is a dealer install-able option. If you retrofit it, it's an arm and a ****ing leg though. Its like a $2200 MSRP option or a $3400 dealer installed option.

If you really want the nav that bad, look for a used one and install it yourself. It's not worth 3k.

A lease is not the way to go not only are you paying more for the car then buying it out right you are also paying tax on every lease payment where as if you buy it out right you don't pay any tax on the payments. just buy it keep it safe with low miles and if you don't like it flip it.

Good luck and a nice choice.

Two things

"Leasing is more money" use to be true until about 4 or 5 years ago. Cash for clunkers changed all of that. Because used car are worth so much right now, manufacturers want you to lease so that they can have a nice 2-4 year old used car when it's up. In order to try to get your to lease manufacturers are offering crazy good incentives. Right now if you lease with Mitsu and you have over a 740 credit score, your interest rate on an Evo is less than 2%.

This local news story confirms this.

And paying tax on your payments? Hu? You pay tax on your car if you lease or buy. So I guess I'm not sure what you're saying.

Cuz it costs like $1200 more to do it that way than if you have it installed at port?

Wow, that's pricey for your dealer to try to charge $3400 installed for Navi.

Within the past couple of weeks, I've spoken with several dealers in my area (NY/NJ) who were willing to add the navi into the deal for anywhere between $2000-2100 + 2 hours of labor (most at $90/hr). So, it really should only be an additional $2200-2300 tops. At least with all the dealers in my area

Another option is to order the navi from a forum vendor. I PM'ed with two forum vendors (Sam @ South Coast and Russell at mitsubishiparts.net) who gave me a quote of $2200 shipped for a brand new navi & install kit. There are easy-to-follow instructions on this forum for how to install it. It's super easy. I did it on my 2008 Evo X when I first bought it.

EDIT: added link to how-to install Navi: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...-evo-10-a.html

After we get the baby ready, may go up around 2 pm. We are talking about getting any where from 4-8 inches today!!

I am closer to the decision of not putting any money down on the lease, taking the check for the amount back and setting it aside to pay the payments for the year or so. Also, gives me time to think about keeping the car after 2 years. with the interest rate being SOOO low on a lease, if I do keep it, its basically like I paid $12,000 over two years of down payments. At that point if I keep it, I will put about 5 or 6 grand down and buy it out... If not, I move on. I averaged 6,000 miles a year on my evo9 I am banking on this thing not falling in value too much.

As for the navi discussion, I have been doing a ton of research. The JDM dash kit for $250.00 and a kenwood excel 6.95" widescreen with built in garmin sounds like a nice option for a grand total of about $900.00 plus my hour or 2 of installation.

On the bright side, dealers would want to get rid of their inventories if new style approaches so you should be able to talk them down even further.

ok, to lease or not to lease is up to you and what you think is best for your family.
It's about 15 min to 2pm now. So good luck, hope everything turns out the way
you want it too.

If you can't get out of the dealership in more than enough time to drive the car safely home, you should just sign the paperwork and leave the car there and pick it up later in the week or next weekend. Please don't drive that sucker home in the snow with those summer tires on it
