Evo X CMC

I have a 2008 Evo X GSR and I replaced the clutch about a year ago to a Spec Stage 2. Lately I noticed that I have a strange smell the moment I start shifting like right out of the driveway. I also noticed that if I start my car while in gear it will be as if my clutch is not in gauged it will jump and stall. In addition sometimes I will start it and cant get in any gear what so ever. On top of that sometimes pulling away at a slow speed I will hear a soft grinding coming from what I believe is the clutch. While I am driving I haven't noticed much but the smell. I know I need to replace the CMC as it was recalled but I was debating on just going with an after market one like AMS. I'm not sure if that will solve all of that but I am looking for some advice and hope that someone as already fixed this. Thanks in advance.

Tons of posts on this issue, read up and then come back with a more specific question.

The AMS CMC and some others, have proven themselves with a wide number of aggressive clutches. I can't speak to the recall replacement.

Well I wondering mostly if any of those problems are there because the stock cmc is on its way out.

Hard to tell but possible. I think most simply had the oem CMC break, going from functional to dead. I could certainly imagine your bigger clutch straining the CMC and causing it to hang. Would account for the smell too.

Only other thing to check is to bleed the clutch line.
