Rattle

Hey guys,

I went to one of the dealerships to do my recalls for tune and CMC on the evo and I brought the car in perfect condition with no issues at all (which makes me feel like I should have not done the recall to begin with) but now there is a very annoying noise when I drive the car at high rpm.

Anything over 5000 rpm I hear this rattle sound under the car. it's like something is either loose or maybe a heat shield that is shaking since the car pulls everything back when pulling the car at those rpm. I should also mention that slowly going up to 5000+ rpm doesn't make the rattle, but only when I push hard it makes it. I've already gone back to the dealership I did the recall with and they say that it was there before I brought it which is a complete lie.

Also because its still in warranty they looked at it and the car stayed with them for 2 days and as I came to them on the second day to pick it up they said thy don't know what the problem is and I'd have to bring it another day. He told me that they would just take part by part and replace it with another evo to see what fixes the sound.I didn't end up doing that cause I was so pissed off since they had it for 2 days and couldn't figure out the problem yet alone wanted it longer.

The car has less than 10,000 km/6000 miles (yes I don't drive it a lot I baby the crap out of it lol!) on it and its a 2012 evo x gsr so personally I don't understand why there's problems. Its 100% stock too.

Anyways just wondering if anyone has heard of such a problem when there is sound under the car when pushing the car past 5000rpm and up?

Also just to mention, I took it to another dealership and honestly they kept brushing me off and telling me that its better I take it back to the dealership I bought the car from which is that same dealership that caused my this issue.

Thank you in advance!

Well, I have to say I agree that you should address the issue with the folks that introduced the problem. Have you identified whether its rpm related or speed related (i.e. does the noise happen at specific rpm regardless what gear you're in?)

Yea the speed doesn't have an effect on the sound as the sound comes up at any speed and any gear with 5000+rpm.

I honestly am too scared to take it back to them as I feel there just going to break something else and blame it on me =\
