Cruise control malfunction

Hey guys, just picked up my 2014 GSR mid December and have been having an issue off and on with cruise control not setting initially. Every couple days I get up to speed, hit "Set Cruise Control" 3-4 times before anything happens. Anyone else experience this?

Yeah, thought about that. Anyone know of good Mitsubishi dealerships north of Atlanta? I don't get good vibes from the one a mile from my house.

Usually a bad bulb in the tail lights will cause cruise control to malfunction.

Can't tell if serious...Seems the two would be completely unrelated.

You can only put it into cruise control if you are in normal mode. If you are in Sport or S-Sport it won't work.

Is that your issue?

Mine is a manual, so shouldn't be that. Thanks though.

Not necessarily a bad bulb. What he is referring to is, if by chance, you have a short between the rear running lights and the brake light, the car thinks you are pressing on the brake pedal when you're not, and disengages the cruise control.

Try this: go drive with your lights OFF and try to use cruise control. Then turn your lights ON and repeat the procedure. If they work with lights OFF but not ON, this is probably your issue. If you turn your lights on and you are able to engage cruise control, this is not your issue.

Ohhhh, makes sense. Thanks, I'll give it a try and report back.

If the brake light system checks good - next is to replace the steering wheel clockspring. sry.

Is your car on a metal cmc? check ur clutch neutral switch to ensure that it is contacting the pedal if you have lowered it

As far as I know, the cmc is stock. Just picked it up in December with 9,381 miles. Any way to easily check that though?
