Anyone ever install a set of hood pins on their carbon fiber hood? I want to get a pair but do not know how to go about installation so I would like some advice in that direction. Also if anyone recommends a good brand as well. Thanks!
AeroCatch is the brand of hood pins I would use. For a carbon fibre hood, it's the same as steel hoods, you just need to tape the surrounding area of where you are to drill, so to prevent the material from cracking.

yeah I was looking into aerocatch, I like the design so I do think im gonna get myself a pair of those. so installation is pretty simple then..maybe not easy lol but they have instructions on their website and I was reading up on those a little. Just a little sketched about drilling into the CF. I will definitely read up on ways to protect it though like the tape method you mentioned
Yeah, install the pins in the engine bay first and put some grease on the tips. That will transfer to the hood and you know where the holes need to be. From there you can template out the AeroCatch latch hole.
That's what i did on mine last year and worked out for the most part. However, i should mention in the video i did not see them drill holes in the rad support, which i did not either. The issue with that on the evo is the pins themselves aren't long enough if you try to mount using existing holes in the rad support so i had to get a set of custom pins made because i wasn't able to find anything long enough that is available on the market. Using the existing holes in the rad support mounts the latches on the hood too high up for the pins to reach. Basically, just make sure to find a spot for the pins that will enable you to mount the latches on the hood at a lower point (closer to the nose).

good watch and also good note on the pins, thanks for that. but yeah that's exactly what I want mine to look like when the come out, following the lines of the hood. that evo in general is amazing

The pins in the aerocatch kit are MORE than long enough. You'll actually have to cut them down to make them work out right.
Here are mine installed, I used the bottom mount pins for a cleaner look.
I went with the old school style of just a stud with the pin. All you need to do is drill one larger hole and then the 4 smaller holes for the screws. Pretty straight forward.
I always tape the hood to avoid cracking the clear when I'm drilling.
You usually only bother on a carbon fiber or fiberglass hood. The hood latch is just bonded/glued to the hood and is prone to failing, typically destroying your hood/windshield/roof.
Otherwise, not much unless you're just trying to look "racecar"
It is worth noting that even the factory hood is NOT bulletproof. If you bumps into another car from behind when running on the track, the factory hood latch can fail as well, posing a safety hazard.
