Bad cat

Purchased an x about 3 months ago, last week I got a cel light took it to the stealership and they told me I have a bad cat, but that its aftermarket so they're charging me about 1800 to go back to oem plus all the oem pipping, at the moment I'm enjoying my x as stock as possible and don't have any mod plans at the moment, but I know 1800 for a cat is outrageous, so my question is since it looks like I have an aftermarket exhaust unamed brand, should I still go back to oem cat or just grab a new aftermarket and if I grab an aftermarket will I need a tune ?

There is no way in LA he is going to get away with a test pipe--post up a WTB on the forum and find a stock replacement or go after market with a plug extender, or a HFC with the same or have it turned off----but you will need one--the closer to stock you can get the fewer issues you will have in the future passing emissions. Or you can forget what you just read and try a short term fix--that will become a long term problem--GL my friend.

Well if you're in dire need of an OEM replacement PM me and we can work something out. If not then you can just go with a high flow cat from AMS or ETS
