The NPV and profitability index (or discounted return on investment; DROI) of this car is notably less than the other cars on your list. Check out its TCO and calculate its discounted return for you in different categories. A well-equipped (thus JDM console, leather seats, etc) Evo or STI with aftermarket sound deadening can embarrass this car in every return category, except if you desire fuel economy or "at the end of the day, it is still an Audi."
Even then it's still more likely to make a mistake especially on the street where nothing is perfect.

I'd need to take classes to drive a vette?
Actually people said things like that about me driving an s2k but I didn't have any problems with it and it was my first stick shift car I ever drove.
People said that about motorcycles too but I started out on a 1000CC bike.
I think we're all different.

But anyway, are EVO's reliable?
You guys are all making me want one, but I've also read many people ditching the EVO because
A) Ridiculous cost of maintenance
B) Poor build quality
C) Interior rattles?

Have any of the above been an issue for any of you?
Regardless of resale value, a $40k car should not have all of those problems above...
But the Evo still seems better than '15 STI only b/c of the engine

I've run my Evo modded since 2010 with absolutely zero issues. As long as you have realistic goals you shouldn't run into any performance related maintenance issues.

A) Not sure about this one, never had any issues maintenance wise other than oil changes and general stuff
B) Build quality is good performance wise, comfort wise not at all, but why would you get an Evo if you're concerned about comfort...
C) Yes it does, theres some good DIY fixes though. Also once you put on an exhaust or change any suspension parts you shouldn't really expect a rattle free interior anyways

With the Evo the price comes from the performance, they've cheaped out on other aspects so that the performance is above average for a $40k car. Also don't get an 2015 STi, they are super ugly. Either get an older one or get an Evo.

That being said I am actually planning on selling mine But not for any reasons to do with the car itself, its been great. I'm looking to buy a new house so unfortunately some of the toys need to go.

i had an evo 8, loved it, never let me down. DD it everywhere, tcase went out and it sucked but it was a beast. sold it got an s2k and loved it but never drove it. traded it for an evo X and im smiles all over again. sure its expensive to maintain, i have the MR so the SST fluid is expensive. but its a well built car. altho i've only driven a hundred miles on the X (bought used) its lovely. nothing rattles for me inside. maybe a slight air noise. the built is beefy.
the paint on my MR altho ur asking about the FE, my 2008 has major sun spots. so its getting repainted. probably from previous owner letting it sit outside in the cali sun for 7 years

Very interesting.
Having an S2k, I'm obviously on S2ki more often than this forum.
There seems to be a few S2k owners who switched to Evos and didn't like it so they came back to the S2k.
If you're liking the Evo more than the S2k, it might make sense to make the switch for me...

I get that EVO is performance oriented hence, the lack of interior luxury.
Lack of Luxury is completely fine. The s2k interior isn't luxurious by any standards either. But it is reliable and nothing inside (or outside) of the car rattles because every component was properly installed and manufactured by Honda.
I'm just afraid of buying a car that is known to rattle because even if it doesn't affect the car's overall longevity, nothing should rattle in the first place...

Yes. It rattles. Even when I got my Evo X brand new with 12 miles on the Odo. Driving it home on the highway at 65-70, it rattles. Still does. But my loud *** TBE mutes the rattling now.

I've had two evo x have an issue around the glove box but that's it for rattles.

Comfort is pretty good as it has plenty of room inside, so many cars these days are hard to see out of, lacking leg room, head room, annoying center consoles so you can't rest right. Overly thick square steering wheels, bright lights on the dash etc. I love the clean simplicity of the evo. The dash is just like the dash in an F50 with a radio and climate control neatly tucked into it.

I have 5k miles on my FE, no paint chips. Don't tailgate and you'll get probably close to zero chips over the life of the car. Glove box rattle comes and goes. But the performance overall nothing can really touch what this car can do in every performance aspect. It has the perfect balance of speed, handling, and grip. After test driving two brand new Evos in 2013 and 2014 respectively and then getting my FE a couple months ago, I can attest that the car is noticeably sharper than either of those cars. If you are comparing to the S2k, the evo has backseats, probably a larger trunk, the same or better gas mileage and much more performance stock for stock, and I'd wager more performance mod for mod.

Glove box rattle can easily be fixed. That's the easy rattle to fix.

Paint seems fine. Its the body panels being made of Coors Light cans that gets me.

Ya paint sucks. Pay for clear bra if you can. I didn't have the money and already have quite a few chips on my 2015.

I BOUGHT THE EVO FE!!!!!!
IT'S BLUE AND IT'S SOOOOO SEXY!!!

But now I'm too broke to buy a bra or anything for a month or so...
I hope my car will be okay.
I love the car too much that I'm scared of it getting scratches or dings.
I'm almost scared to even drive it...
On the way back from the dealership, I made sure I was 5-7 car lengths away from any type of trucks, even those tiny pssy a$$ ones.
