Track Results (1/4mile) EVO versus MUSTANG 5.0
I am normally a road/race guy but my brother has a muscle car and wanted to teach me a lesson in drag racing.
He has a 2011 mustang 5.0 GT (bare bones model) with modifications:
1.) Suspension, suspension, suspension upgrades
2.) Aluminum drive shaft
3.) Aero upgrades from GT-500
4.) Drag radials
5.) trans brake push button (yes he has an auto)
6.) exhaust system from headers back
7.) Stripped the rear half of the car interior and all seats but drivers seat
8.) other weight loss tricks like -10lb radiator support and he removed his front swaybar (and other stuff I cannot remember)
9.) probably did a colon cleanse
We raced last weekend at Lebanon valley.
We agreed ahead of time that the best slip wins the day. This is because it is so crowded you cannot always line up together.
I was destroyed on our first run. I ran a 13.2 and he ran his best of the day: 12.65
I knew what I had to do.
I threw together what is now called the "hail Mary" map and flashed the ecu while in line. Not saying I recommend this...but...
My 2nd run was fantastic and I beat him fair and square with the fastest run of the day between us.
Unfortunately we were not lined up and it was a solo run shown below.

It is a Garrett GTX style 20g compressor with 9 blade TD05 turbine with the OEM turbine housing and turbosmart actuator.
If I remember the logs correctly I went over 30psi more than once in the run. I don't understand why that didn't cause the ECU to freak. <---- don't do this at home kids!

I came across this cool calculator:

So based on my timeslip my 0-60 time is 3.68 sec.... Not bad...

He wants to keep his car NA. He is talking about CAMS and a COBRA JET intake and a tune. He has literally done nothing to the engine. No tuning, not even an air filter. He is about dropping weight, which he does every chance he can get. His time is actually quite impressive given that he hasn't touched the engine!
But alas, I have talked him into doing HPDE with me at Watkins Glenn. Little does he know that he will be DESTROYED on a track with something called TURNS !
(and it helps he has zero track experience and I have 6 years on that track exclusively)
