You talking about 55W HID's?

No such thing as 55 watt HID's that is cheap Asian junk and lies. 1 up-manship marketing.

We make HID ballasts and systems for Aviation and they will be 50 watt driving lights.

Hmmm

So how are they managing to extract 4500+ lumens from these so called 55W HID kits? Little confused as to where they're used anyway. I cant imagine they would be legal for road use.

We get 5300 lumens with 50 watts going to the bulb. Std is 3200 lumens from 35 watts to the bulb. 35 watt = 91 lumens per watt, our 50 watt = 106 lumens per watt. Our 50 watt HID is more efficient than 35 watt at these wattages. Our 50 watt is ~16% more efficient (lumens) than the std. 35 watt.

Not legal in some states to add any aux lights not included from the factory. Where aux lights are legal (Utah it is) then the laws are related to how you use or abuse them. I will only use them when no traffic in front of me (close) or NO oncoming traffic.
