Yep, it's aluminum

Late for work this morning, I overzealously tugged on my seat belt and the metal D ring part hit the edge of my handbrake lever near the release button. Made a tiny ding in it.

Well, at least now I know it's really aluminum.

I have hit mine twice already......lol it pissed me off so bad. Now I am extra careful while putting on my seatbelt.

My TL has an aluminum strip that runs from the radio to the center console and i have numerous dings in that piece from the seatbelt...every time i do it i yell

Thegame Jul 10, 2008 02:27 PM

This happened to my VIII ebrake grip. The best way to fix it is just to polish it out. Sand it down with heavy grain slowly working all the way down to 000 steel wool. Then hit it with some mothers billet polish and it'll look great. I don't know how to create a brushed finish.

so glad I bought the cheapo version with no upgrades on the interior.....well, maybe not, but my ebrake has no dings-
Sorry to hear it....someone will come out with a decent replacement for them soon....CF baby!

Hiboost Jul 10, 2008 09:43 PM

Tried to put on my seatbelt in a hurry and so far twice I've managed to ding the aluminum hand brake button. Ahhhhhhhhhh! My new routine is to put my seatbelt on after i release the parking brake, but now it's kinda too late even if I'm really carefull.

I'm almost considering just dinging the hell out of the end so that it has the dimpled look... an extra here or there will go completely unnoticed then.

steinvb12 Jul 11, 2008 07:32 AM

Ditto.....I have done that too.....doh!

Exactly, worse, it's a Mitsubishi...

I don't think mine's aluminum. Yall must have got a gauge or nav pkg to get that.
