Anybody's Traction Control turning itself off?
for the past couple weeks, as soon as i turn on the car, ASC turns itself off and a yellow message pops up on the trip computer saying service required. and the little diagram of a car with the wheels turned to the right followed by the car swerving. before all this happened, i noticed when i turned on exits to the right, the car would slide abnormally and asc would then turn itself off.
this happen to anyone else? what could the problem be? p.s. someone nicked my car bad in the parking lot the other day. paint completely gone in some places. this car has been nothing but a headache since i got it (if anyone remembers the intake spacer issue) |
With anything related to the vehicle's computer I'd say go to the dealership. I had the Check Engine light on and took it to the dealer ship they reset the comp and the issue was fixed.

Get this checked out at the dealer. It's a problem with the S-AWC it's hard to say which one of the specific systems though.

check that you don't have a brake light out. that will kick off the asc system. and be sure to use stock bulbs. the car keeps track of how much load is on the wires to the brake lights. if you replace with led's or something then the load is wrong and it will kick off the asc. that will kick off the asc system.

ah, i see. thanks guys

When I push it too far on a turn and my back end starts to slide out, the orange traction symbol lights up on my trip computer (the car w/ the swirves under it). Is this normal for when the car starts to lose traction or is that the ASC actually turning off?
|
I know other cars will flash the same simbol when the VSC system starts to do its job, and it will beep just to let you know.
|
This is new to me.. Just take it and have the dealer check it out.
|
it's definitely not normal to lose asc everytime I turn it on
|
if the light is on on the dash, (car with squiggles), that means you turned it off. when you lose control and it flashes, that means it is working. if a message says service traction control, you definately have a problem and i would take it in. the computer stores codes even if the ses light is not on.

It might be a wheel speed sensor.

When I overboost it will trip this same light and turn the asc off... try checking your boost lines.
