What's up with the trunk keyholes?
I keep seeing pics of EVO X's with what appear to be trunk keyholes. What's up with that? Pardon my ignorance.

Yea, they do. The idea behind the new key is to never have to take it out of your pocket I believe.
Just walk up to the car, push the button, and the trunk pops open. |

I think its an awesome fetaure, BUT they should have done what VW/Audi do and hide it under the lip where the lights for the licence plate is, but then again, the licence plate isn't on the trunk, its on the bumper. I think they could have come up with a better way to hide it. Could have integrated it into the diamonds on the mitsu symbol, VW does that on the GTI/hatch backs. Love that feature.

If Mitsubishi did the flip-open to the current logo...high chance of breaking. Otherwise they'd need to redesign the whole logo, and for me...no thanks. |
OR they could relocate it into the middle of the three diamonds but i bet it'll be fugly

How the heck do you remove the chrome ring from around the button?

Probably have to take the lock cylinder device out of the trunk and part it. But then you're likely to have an ugly gap around the button, unless you paint the bezel. If you call mitsubishi parts they can typically print you out a schematic of it. And Key-less entry/trunk FTMFW! I'd be spoiled if my next car didn't have it. Its great. Nothing like pulling the "It's like James Bond and only I can open it, its finger print scanned" joke on people that are gullible. Just stand outside the range when they try. Haha

It doesn't matter much. The trunk release button appears discreet to me. It is definitely a nice feature to have. Often times I am approaching my vehicle with my hands full and pushing the button is a better option than fishing for the fob in my pocket.
