OEM oil filter for Evox
2 Attachment(s)
Hey everyone, I have a question.
Is there a difference between these two oil filters? I bought a filter from the dealer and they gave me a different one then the one that came on the car. I still installed it but I just want to know if anyone knows a difference. It seems the original one has a thicker o-ring seal. MD356000 original one that came on my EvoX GSR Attachment 299047 MZ690116 one the dealer gave me Attachment 299048 edit* fixed typo |
your ok, i believe the first on is oem japan and the 2nd one is oem usa.

In the US, that first part number has been superceded by the second.
Actually it's "MZ690116" (no "D") |
its the same thing in my job, they mass produce parts from many different manufacturers. If the part number cross reference to their parts listing then you are fine. Nothing to worry about

Actually it's "MZ690116" (no "D") anyways thanks everyone for answering, i figured it should be ok. |
I noticed one is dirtier then the other-thats about it ;)

even domestically made cars have different labels or slight variations in the dealer oil filters vs. the assembly line ones. I don't know why...maybe the first oil filter has a different bypass pressure or a good filter media to help with break-in lube and other metals that are present with the break-in.
Another idea is that the first filter cost a nickel less because the sticker was cheaper and the paint was less costly...cheaper o-ring...??? i dunno, but when you are paying for the 2nd filter, i guess the extra 5 cents doesn't become a factor like it does with assembly line cost savings measures. |
Too bad we can't get the JDM oil filter made in Japan. It is definitely a better build quality than the US ones we get from Thailand.
|
^ I agree 100%. The OEM filters that were on my VIII and X were 10X better than the POS ones I get from the dealer.
|
didnt try, but i havnt gone back, ill ask the next time i go in which should be pretty soon again.
|
Anyone know where I can order JDM OEM filters? The official oil filter comparison thread showed USDM OEM filter performed poorly.
|
i was wondering this too but the one i got from the dealer worked fine.
|
The next person who uses "OEM" for "OE" (or v.v.) gets ripped. You have been warned.
|
Is the crush washer the same? The oil filter looks like the same one for the VIII and IX.
|
the Z one cost 5 bucks a pop on ebay, the D one cost like 14 plus shipping
