So how many Evo X's are there?
I don't think this has been answered. If it has, forgive me.
We know there are no '09's. We know there are quite a few X's languishing on dealer lots. We know a bunch are in the hands of enthusiasts like us. So, how many X's made it across on the boat from Japan altogether? I'm assuming the next X to get on a boat will be a 2010 model so there should be a fairly definitive count. |
i woud say 300/month sold since april 08, so figure 3000 sold and about 900 sitting on dealer lots.
these should be sold over next 6-8 months just in time for the 2010 to come out August-Sept timeframe. |
One of the articles in the "no 2009 evo" thread said there are between 800-900 unsold 08 models in the USA.

300/month is about 50/month high.
Mitsu has been averaging 200-275 a month since May of last year. The number has gone up since the 0%, but not by an appreciable amount. Personally I'm tickled that there have been such a low number sold... unless Mitsu dumps the remaining stock. |
i guess i could understand the 800 unsole but in my area theres barely any Xs left and if you did want to buy one in this area you wouldnt have much of a choice in what you wanted..only colors that are left are like silver grey and an occational blue no black no whites anywhere

On one hand having a low production model has exclusivity, but on the other hand, if it became like a Honda civic, Acura integra, there would be cheap parts at automotive stores and parts cars for decades. I'm torn, but I hope they sell more in the coming years.

I'm pretty sure Don Herring always has a few on the back lot, but only a couple on the front lot in order to make it seem like there's a low supply :) |

So, does the fact that there is no '09 hurt our '08 resale or help it???

I've spoke to a LOT of dealers and I'm in NY. This is a poor climate for cars like the Evo and STI. Frankly, even at low prices they are tough to sell. I have two friends who sold their Evo 8's and they took a major hit when the X came out. Almost right away they lost 2K and were much harder to sell. Now they have the X and the economic downturn has made just about any car tougher to sell. An Evo is a very impractical car. It ranks as a expensive toy and this is a bad time to sell such things. BTW, I'm a boat/yacht broker. Some of my clients, typically big spenders, are holding off on buying anything. At the same time repair shops are doing bigger business as people seek to fix up older cars and keep them going. None of this is good for high end toys like the Evo or STI. Skipping a year probably won't matter much. But if the 2010 has a 6 speed manual, then we're talking a major hit. R. |

that would be the number of other evo X's I've personally seen on the road...and that includes one I saw in Ft. Mac, AB.
