Anyone have moleskin's adhesive streaking on the tint?

it seems like on hot days, you know, when i open my windows, when i roll my windows back up i can see huge streaks of glue on it all over the window, from the moleskin tint protector. i didn't think i did anything wrong, followed the install to the letter. and this only happens on hot days. anyone have suggestions?

Yeah happens to me too on hot days I doubt u didnt anything wrong. Kind of sucks but it does come off just make sure u use the right stuff to clean your tints so u dont damage it.

Same thing happened to me. I'm glad I went through the effort of protecting the tint  when now every time I roll down the windows it streaks. Hopefully after cleaning it of for the tenth time all the goo will be gone. Now I tend to drive around with the windows up even on beautiful spring days. SUCKS!

i use goo-gone, don't think it damages the tint in any way as long as i don't clean it from the top down. it cleans very well so far, but it's a pain to go through it every time.

Same thing happens to me. I used invisible glass and some elbow grease...took it right off. I think all the exposed glue sas been taken off by now, havnt noticed anymore streaking in a few weeks. We'll see if it survives this hot Florida summer...

Damn man! I JUST got done installing this stuff! Talk about crazy timing. Hopefully mine will only streak for a few weeks until all the excess crap comes off.:crap:

Is Moleskin aware of this? Have any of you contacted them to find a solution? I'm still waiting on coming back to Chicago to buy my X, but this is something I'm keeping in mind. On my Infiniti, they were courteous enough to include felt. Slapped some tints on the front windows (rears all factory) and never had an issue with scratches. How come they got the felt part right though? Never had any glue issues... what's the difference between OEM felt liners and Moleskin?

In relation to other cars... first time I seen the scratches was a buddy's '05 Crustang and we were like wtf is that? Crappy tint... it wasn't until I read the scratched tint issues with the X that I knew it was from the lack of felt...

I have never heard of anything like this happening

same thing happened to mine, I thought I had installed it wrong :(, I was able to get the streaks off, funny thing is, it happened to only my front windows and not my rear windows. Anyone else notice this on fronts and rears?

mmartahus May 17, 2009 10:35 AM

yea happens to me

paint thinner removes it

J5isalive2 May 17, 2009 12:42 PM

Yup... makes me regret the tint almost.

^ +1, these cars suck for tint, makes even a good tint job look crappy

As long as it doesn't get super hot you should be ok. Mine was fine for almost 2-3 weeks (rolling up and down with no streaks), then as soon as we got this Texas heat come in, I rolled down all 4 windows at the gas station and then rolled them up and thats when I got streaks on my front windows :(
