Perrin Universal Gauge Pod?

Any one using this gauge pod on the X? If so how do u like it? From the pics it seems like the location of the gauges blocks the speedometer and tach a little too much for daily driving.

I would like to know this as well. I was very close to picking this up but I would like to test fit it or see someone who has it.

i asked this exact question on the "other" forum and got nothing. i love the style and the package deal but am weary on how it actually mounts and looks when mounted from the side or so

It doesn't cover nearly as much as it does in that picture above, unless you are a midget and look under the top pf the steering wheel to see the road. I helped a friend install one of these recently and it's not bad at all. It covers from 20mph and below on the speedo and under 1K on the tach.

The question is, do you really use the speedo for under 20mph....most likely not. You can say the same for under 1K on the tach. If you really need to see where your idle is, you can lean over slightly.

In summary, it doesn't cover a whole lot of useful information. I don't have the Perrin, and my gauge still covers from 20mph and below. No matter what route you go, you will most likely need to give up some visibility.

Thanks for the information. I think I will pick this up as well.

I have it and it does not cover up that much... just the lower portions as was stated above. My only gripe is that it does have a slight rattle, but nothing that can't be knoced down with some two sided tape. When you position it on the column I reccomend that you bring it as close to the wheel as you can without it rubbing the reset buttons of your guages when turning the wheel for the best all around visiblity.

Google will be your friend on this one.

I was going to pick this up but i have 2 friends who have this, and dead center on the steering column. They let me sit and have it the way i set up my seat and steering column to drive comfortably for myself, this wouldn't work out.

For me, i can't see anything below 40 mph and i can't see anything around or so/ below 3,000-3,500 rpm. I am about 6'2.

This really matters on what your driving position is. lower the steering wheel more you see , higher up less you see.

I have it i. My ix. It completley blocks the gas gauge, a problem you wont have in a X. i am always tightening screws to keep pods from flopping down and rattling on my wheel. Other than those two annoying things, overall i do like it.
