heavy set drivers with EVO X's recaro seats

i have a 38 in waist and a wide back. i've sat in an EVO X before and the side bolsting of the recaro seat made me somewhat uncomfortable, it's funny because i felt quite comfortable riding in friend's s2000. granted i was only in the car for less than 3 minutes so i wouldn't know if it's something i can get used to over time. any stout evo x drivers here want to share their experience? thanks.

Ya I mixed it up... I meant that. I know the issues, but the fact that there's so many I was able to mix them up is worrying :D

Well, the car does have racing seats. If you can't fit into the car seat properly, you should try going on a diet. I'm not trying to be rude here, but most racing seats are made for a 32-34" maximum waist. I've felt bad because one of my friends could not fit in my car, and all he wanted was a ride in an evo. I did not want him to break my bolsters down, and he was basically just sitting on top of them.

I'm a 36" and my evo 8 was just fine for me. I couldn't get any bigger but it wasn't bad. You could get a new seat put in if you really like the car. I test drove a 10 and didn't think it was too bad.

Well, Im a 38 waist, just shy of 200lbs and I fit in the seats perfectly. I make my 600 mile drive every couple of months and I've never been uncomfortable

American cars have seats that don't hold you in place, and they're flat like park benches. I'd recommend those.

Cluebag - they are NOT racing seats.

To OP - The stock seats are 'supportive' and if they don't fit well, you can look at an aftermarket Recaro or Sparco seat, both of which make seats for larger and smaller individuals.

I've got a 36 - 38" waist and have no issues in an VIII, IX or a X. The bolsters are there no doubt, but it is hardly bothersome, just touching. Perhaps some folks just dislike the snug feeling of true lateral support?

Noize Dec 27, 2009 10:51 AM

35" here, and they fit awesome.
I have a friend who is like 265 lbs, and he sits ON the seat bottom bolsters, not between them. Needless to say, we take his car when we have to ride in the same car, LOL.

To the OP, aftermarket seats are your friend.

Like Noize said, there are a lot of aftermarket seats out there so that'll just be one of your first mods.

I'm 38" waist/200 lbs and a snug fit, especially with a Winter jacket on. It all depends on how you're built, though...

sell your seats
buy an Sparco EVO3 Racing Seats
The Evo 3 is designed for larger drivers (over 240lbs). It will accomidate a 38-42 inch waist.

this is a link to the seat

i am around a 36 waist depending on the holiday feasting and my shoulders are very broad. The evo x seats are like heaven for me. I had an 06 STI before this car and those seats always felt too wide for me. When i looked into the sti forums people suggested padding the seats with more foam for a snugger fit. In your case I wouldnt recommend changing the the foam but probably an aftermarket seat like everyone else suggested will work best. Dieting wont help above the waist if your body structure is wide.

I have to aggree with above, I am 36-38 around 210-215, really broad shoulders and back, I'm in the Army and I go to the gym alot and I absolutely love my seats they are heaven to me. But maybe that is just me

I am 6'2, 270lbs, 42 waist and the I fit in the seat fine. At first I was a tiny bit uncomfortable on long drives (longer than 3-4 hours at a time) but as time has progressed I have gotten used to it and don't notice any more. I actually prefer the bolsters.
