Need Fog light Help! They don't turn on.
 

Long story short, I messed up my fog lights.

I was trying to do the "fog light on anytime" mod (link below) and now they just don't work. Here is a quick overview from the other forum. I haven't resolved it so I thought I'd try here.


I jumped the ground wire from fog light to the DRL (with a vampire clip) under the dash to power on the fogs anytime I had ignition but that didn't work like I wanted. Now my fogs don't work; only when I ground that wire directly. The relays and fuses under the hood/dash are good so I'm thinking the wire is just cut. Or maybe the switch went. I'm not sure.



when you ground the wire running to the fogs they can turn on, correct? Yes, they worked both with the DRLs and the fog switch. I'm a little confused by how you worded a few things.

your drl still work, correct? Yes, like normal.

You cannot wire the fogs back up like they were oem and have them function correctly now right? Correct, I only tapped into them, but I removed the tap now. They stay on if I tap into them again and directly ground them.

You remembered to plug in the harness running from your fogs? ;) just thought I'd ask, i've forgot before. Yep, well I never unplugged the harness.

How did you decided that it was just the ground wire triggering your fogs off and on? I read a "How-to" here and tried my own thing: http://webpages.charter.net/gotrnet/...glight_mod.pdf

No fuses nor relays are having problems correct? Correct. If I directly jump the power in the fuse box where the relay is, they stay on all the time.

The fog light bulbs are not burnt right? Correct, because of the test above.

Lastly, do you have access to a volt meter? Yes, I have 12v on one side of the fuse box where the relay goes and 5v on the other. (between 1-2 and 3-4 where the relay would sit, if that makes sense.)

It's like I just messed up the stock fog switch. When I switch on the fog lights, only the dash light comes on.


Is there anything else I could be missing?

Side note: I'm not getting power to fuse number 22, heated mirrors ?; I have a GSR with navi & HIDs so I don't know if that's a real concern.
