PROBLEM: Steering angle sensor

Hey guys,

last week I need to haul off my EVO X MR because I got a S-AWC error in the display and ASC and everything goes crazy.

After read out the DTC's a "steering angle sensor" should be the problem.

Mitsu garage changed this sensor on warrenty but they can't delete this error out of the ECU. They tried to align everthing but nothing helps.

Now told me the garage they need to contact the Mitsu head quater and this maybe needs few weeks...{thumbdwn}{thumbdwn}{thumbdwn}

Why I have bought a new car with warrenty? I got no rental car because I'm in a 50km radius and this fu.... service is like s h i t !! Aaaarrgggghhh !!

Maybe anybody have had the same problems and can give me some info.

Thanks

Peter

can you confirm that they have tried to reflash your ecu?

you think your service is bad? i was told ALL my warranty was voided asap I put in an intake lol.

Peter10654 Dec 13, 2010 02:39 AM

The problem occured after I've tried to log with EVOSCAN, but I've not tried to reflash the ecu and I have heard a "crack" behind the steering wheel.

And I'm sure this dealer have no access to the ecu for a reflash... He told me he can't look into the ecu so deep...

The dealer has to be able to re-flash since there were recalls on the vehicle. I doubt that is it though. I know we have like 3 on board computers in our cars and maybe you fried something more than a sensor unfortunately. Maybe your SST transmission is breaking like some people are experiencing. Best thing to do is get a rep down to that dealership and maybe you will end up with a new car. I'd call corporate and explain to them the situation about a loaner car and the dealership not being able to "look into" the ecu leaving you helpless.

I'm sorry bro :(

what was the actual code?

i think you need to do a steering wheel calibration after replacing it or the steering wheel...

dealer should read the FSM and know what todo :)

Peter10654 Dec 13, 2010 03:31 AM

@Tephra

I've read into the FSM and I have seen there is a calibration needed for the Sensor and after this you need to calibrate also the ASC.

Of course I'm not sure what he did and what not.

I'll ask for the actual code. I tell you later. The dealer told me he can't delete this code. He changes the sensor and he changed any spring behind the steerin wheel. He told me the spring was broken.

@tehSteve

Yes... I think also they can do a reflash, but not tolook on fuel or ignition tables. The dealer is a great guy... He knows what changes are done and still keeps the warrenty, but gentleness doesn't replace knowledge. I hope they will fix this fu... BS soon because I know if there is something with a damages SST this will need months for a warrenty enquiry.

But thanks bro for your help.

the clock spring being broken is weird?

he may have damaged it whilst removing the wheel...

anyways I would go in there with the pages from the FSM and say you asked a buddy to help... or something so they dont get ****ty :)

Peter10654 Dec 13, 2010 03:44 AM

Thanks tephra... Yeah.. maybe they have damaged it. The reason I have heard a "crack" during steering left hand side, maybe there is really something broken behind the steering wheel. After this crack all problems begun. First sign was a "ASC sliding sign" (car doesn't slide.. 10mph during this message) and after I tried to go left hand side ASC brakes the front wheels and "S-AWC Control" appears. Seems the car went in Limp mode because it accelerate like a 50hp Golf.

I think this is the best idea to help these guys... It seems they doesn't have a lot of experience with that kind of car. Too bad I can not calibrate the sensor with Tactrix and Evoscan. That would be a great help. :)

if they have a MUTIII (MUT3) then they can do it with that...

Peter10654 Dec 13, 2010 03:50 AM

Yes... They have a MUTIII of course.. I'll try this byself :) Thanks bro

Sharkbite2000 Dec 13, 2010 04:13 AM

Welcome.

Peter10654 Dec 14, 2010 02:23 AM

Just to let you guys know.... Car is running again :)

With the correct usage of the MUTIII everything was fine... Crazy guys sometimes in the Mitsu garage.

Thanks for help
