disappointing dyno results

I recently bought a 2011 Evo X a few months ago. I used to have an Evo IX a couple years ago and loved it. With my IX all I did to the car was a downpipe, cat and an ECU tune and I got 286HP at the wheel and 282 FPTQ.

Recently I installed the following:

Perrin FM intercooler
Perrin downpipe
Perrin catback
K&N drop in air filter
Boost cellinoid

Today I had it dyno'ed on a mustang dyno. It only did 282AWHP with 280FPTQ. Am I missing something here? Either the Evo X is slower than the IX or I got a bad tune. What do you guys think?

Lots of factors to consider. Dyno's are for tuning and dynoqueens. How does the car feel? Without seeing a dynograph I'm not sure an accurate assessment can be done. Is it making the power across a wide power band or does it shoot up to a peak number?

It definitely feels faster than it did when it was stock but doesn't feel like my last one did. I figured with the FMIC it would make a little bit more HP than what my IX did previously.

About leave it alone!

You mostlikely are still on break in!

@ 5200 miles?

Post the dyno graphs! How much boost when it was tune?

Find a dynojet. It will show you what (high numbers) you want to see.

You would know the gains if you'd dyno'd stock. Almost 300awhp on a mustang isn't bad at all. Good for low 13's high 12's I'd say.

I'll post them up a little bit later. Yeah I've heard a mustang dyno is a bit harder than a dynojet. Just wondering what others experience was with similar upgrades. I was thinking about taking it to another tuner to see if I could get more out of it but I don't want to waste my money if this is where it should be.

I believe that your numbers will be 10-15% higher on a DJ. So if your worried about numbers then roughly they should be 323 whp and 319 trq on a DJ...I added a 13% increase just so u can get a rough idea if u were on a DJ. Im also all the way in Wisconsin and im not sure what your altitude is over there which can also play a huge factor during a tune

horse-eater Aug 25, 2011 08:25 PM

I didn't even think about altitude but I dont think San Fran is that high.

VETTE_50_TH Aug 25, 2011 08:32 PM

Whats a cellinoid?

evo-griff Aug 25, 2011 08:32 PM

Yeah it's only 52ft above sea level....

evo-griff Aug 25, 2011 08:33 PM

Sorry, a BOOST SOLENOID! LOL

ugakirk Aug 25, 2011 08:40 PM

What boost is it running at?

evo-griff Aug 25, 2011 08:46 PM

Unfortunately I don't know. The other reason why I'm asking if I should get a second opinion is because the guy tuning my car cut out pretty quick and all I was given was the chart from the dyno.
