how much power is needed to run mid to low 12's
was searching for a 1/4 mile times thread and didn't find one. i'm in the market for a X and just wanted to know how much power is needed to run mid to low 12's. I would also like to know the max amount of power people are running with stock blocks. thanks!

The 2011 can hit 1/4 mile in 13 flat, and, depending on dyno, they are hitting 220-250 whp. Basic weight reduction and a tune could probably get you in mid 12s.
As for max power on stock block, start checking the dyno thread section. |
Basic bolt ons...Fmic, uicp, intake, 3port bc, tbe, and a tune should get u mid 12's all day :)

My setup would easily be capable of a mid to low 12@112mph, and I have 305whp on a Mustang Dyno.

Also depends on the driver ;) ive seen some cars putting down quite a bit of power have slow runs some bolt ons a nice tune and you will hit mid 12s

in an se I have gone mid 12 s with no prob with a cobb stg 2 and tb

weight/(ET/5.825) "cubed" so to the third. will give you the HP needed to run 12's( which is the ET you are asking about. assume you evo is 3200lbs or what ever you think or know it is.

3200 / 8.74 This says you will need 366 HP to run a solid 12. and unless I'm mistaken our car scales in at 3600 stock right? at 3600lb it's 411 HP to run 12's. |

MY recommendation for weight reduction, to retain the balance of the car (since most of the listed items above are removed from the REAR of the car, which is more front heavy to begin with): -light weight wheels (MR BBS will save around 8lbs total over the GSR Enkeis) -driver weight reduction (100lbs = .1sec off your 1/4 ET) -light/aftermarket full exhaust (do some research, I don't have the numbers immediately available, HUGE weight loss potential) -lighter brakes/rotors (MR two piece for example) |
Wow. 3,800 seems pretty high. The numbers I've seen without driver are ~3,500. Either way, if you're looking for a dedicated drag car, you might be willing to go a little more extreme in terms of weight reduction, but if you're only looking to hit the strip occasionally with a DD, you probably want to make your weight reduction a little more focused.
From the research I've been doing, here are the top weight reductions you might want to consider for a daily driver and the corresponding weigh savings (these numbers vary by how extreme you're willing to go): Rims: 20 lbs Exhaust: 10-30 lbs Spare: 50 lbs Battery: 20-35 lbs Coilovers: 30 lbs Brakes: 20-40 lbs Aluminum driveline: 15 lbs Wing: 13 lbs So that's nearly 200 lbs off your starting mark without making a major impact on your daily driving experience. Obviously, it's easier/cheaper to add power than to reduce weight, so you'd have to weigh your options. |

car seems like roughly 3400-3450 dry.. some of these weight reduction numbers seem a little optimistic...
