3000GT-GTO May 27, 2012 06:07 PM

will hfc also shoot out flame with stock exhaust?

surefooted May 27, 2012 06:21 PM

Probably

3000GT-GTO May 27, 2012 07:16 PM

Does it shoot flames only in high rpm like 5000 to 7000 rpm range?
Can it happen in low revs between 2500 to 4000 rpm, because I don't want to pass a cop with big flames on my exhaust.

Probably not to your first question. I've had a full 3"tbe with test pipe for almost a year now, I was running rich as hell at the beginning of this season and I never shot a single flame.

yes this one. I got ams hfc, stock piping but no rear exhaust just fabricated straight dual tube. Still shoots flames.

Question.. is how does one know that one is shooting flames? Unless you put a camera bck there or have a buddy following you all the time.

If your shooting flames, you must really have a piss poor tune. I installed my downpipe and test pipe, I had some back firing on decel but NO flames at all. I know this because I get followed to work every day. There's no way gas should be making it all the way to the back before blowing up. That's not normal, get a new tuner. Hearing pops and actually shooting flames are two totally different things. Usually back fires happen at the elbow of the downpipe, not your cat-back L O L.

To say you need a new tuner because your car shoots flames is pretty ignorant. When I had just my test pipe in place of my cat with my STOCK cat back my car would consistently shoot flames out of the tail pipes between shifts while racing. Knowing how fuel injection works, in conjunction with the throttle plate opening/closing would give you a little more insight as to why the car actually will shoot flames out of the exhaust. My car runs high 11's AFR btw.........
