dual exhaust: anyone else's tips crooked?
Just wondering how many people actually have their aftermarket exhausts aligned perfectly with the bumper. One of my exhaust tips sticks out more than the other, and it drives me nuts. Went to a couple of car meets and realized there were a number of people with the same issue with many different brands, reputable or not.

Maybe just need some fresh hangers and some adjustment?
|
Would you need to bend the exhaust itself? I know what you mean by it driving you nuts, hate how it looks!

I got mine from ETS and it looks stock. The fitment was spot on.

I installed my UR exhaust last night and it drove me nuts trying to see if it is aligned. Not becuase it wasnt aligning but becuase I couldnt tell. We walked backed and forth and tried to compare each tip to whatever we could and just too difficult to tell. Then I realized I was being too anal and nobody that looks at the car is going to walk from side to side, putting two figers here and two figers there. I just decided it was fine. So maybe some exhausts are WAY off, but I have no way of telling if mine is a little off. At one point I thought the left tip was out a little further then it wasn't.

I have a UR exhaust and my left side sticks out about an inch more...looking for a solution myself. This was not like this when I put it on....drives me nuts lol

I've had several different exhaust systems and the only one that was spot on with no issues was the ETS regular V2 exhaust. Cobb's was crooked and my quiet ETS I had to cut on the rear valance because it was rubbing on it. Still debating if I am going to stick a exhaust on my 13 for this reason alone. You pay a fair amount of money and the quality just doesn't seem to be there. I agree with you that it drives me nuts when I see a crooked exhaust but I'm not a big fan of the single exhaust sticking out the side.

Got my magnaflow exhaust installed. It's slightly misaligned so I aligned it using zip ties. Zip ties are awesome!

Spazpilot... the exhaust i have, which is crooked, is the same as yours, the V2.. but you're saying your V2 was spot on... There are same-brand exhausts out there that are looking different.. i wonder if the metal is warping as these exhausts age? |
I believe the issue is just that the factory exhaust just hast to many adjustable points on it with the type of flanges it has. Spring loaded flanges have room for a lot of play. On top of that quality control just doesn't seem to be there with a lot of companies. Including the install of the engine from Mitsubishi. A slight twist from the front could make a ugly fitment of the tips in the rear. Try to loosen the clap between the exhaust and mid pipe and twist it one direction or another on see if it helps. Twist it one way and it will push out one side opposite way will be the reverse, just watch the pipe to make sure it doesn't get close to the rear mid pipe hangar or you'll get a rattle. Hope that helps some.

It looks stock until I start her up and you just hear the difference. God I love that sound. |
