Differences between 2008-2013 Evo's SST Transmissions???

Hello All-

My name is Scott I am new to the forum and I currently do not own an Evo....yet. I have a 300hp Volvo and am inspired to upgrade to a Mitsubishi Evo. I have been doing lots of research and going to local dealers and seeing what they have in stock. I am interested in a MR with the SST tranny. I know some people do not like the SST but I do believe it is the future and there will be more mods ready for it once my new one comes off warranty in 3 years.

That being said, I have read a lot about SST issues from the 2008-2011 cars, since it was newer then and Mitsu might not have been fully aware on how to deal with it. Has Mitsubishi addressed any of these issues in the latest models? 2012 or 2013? The reason I ask is that I have found a dealer close by that still has a couple of brand new 2011 MR's. They are a good price but I worry about a car sitting for 1 1/2 years and if the 2011 maybe did not have an updated SST transmission.

Thoughts and input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Good advice, 2011 might have been produced in 2010 actually. So it could be a 3 year old car now, as far as sitting goes you would have to tell the dealer that the tires are old now, thats $1300 right there.

Otherwise its going to be fine, Mitsu has never acknowledged any improvements to the SST but as it was designed by Getrag, manufacturing updates happen. Just no one boasts about them. Basically you are ok with the 2011 the 1st year production bugs have been ironed out.

What is the dealer asking? Keep in mind that even though they are new, they want to move them asap.
