Quietest Exhaust that doesn't rob power
I currently have the Ultimate Racing Test Pipe with Mini-Muffler. I'm looking for a full turboback that is civil (i.e. quiet) but doesn't rob power.
Can someone tell me the following? (3 Things) The best exhaust that blends power and civility after full boltons The exhaust that makes the most power after full boltons The exhaust that's the quietest after full boltons |

I have this on my car with downpipe and testpipe, and it is still pretty quiet. From the reviews i have read, it is one of the most quiet exhausts you can buy. Check out some sounds clips to help you decide. |
Megan OE-RS cat-back. 3" and still pretty quiet. Had it on my last X. Shouldn't be bad with a test pipe.

Not quiet at all, but here is my car with a Buschur 3" catback. This is the bullet muffler option FYI.

Some please correct me if i am wrong, but Catbacks do not make power. They should all be very close (so long as the piping is the same size), just different sounding. This being said, pick whatever one you think sounds the best. The cat is the restricting part of the system. Replace it with any test pipe, as it is just a 3" piece of pipe, not really any difference brand to brand. That should answer the first 2 questions.

I'm also not just looking for a catback, when I say exhaust, I mean TBE. Buschur sounds louder than the Megan? |
Don't get v2 quiet. I just did a 2800 mile road trip it drones around 75mph.
I have stock cat with Ets v2 quiet, I wonder if UR mini muffler Testpipe would make my drone worst or better..... |
I have the HKS Super Turbo catback. I wanted an aftermarket catback that was on the quiet side since I plan on using a high flow cat later on. My car sounds similar to this.

I have the following for my exhaust setup
Depo Downpipe(replaces o2 housing) Depo HFC RRE Stealth Sideways exhaust(nearly the same as magnaflow, but full 3" and has a resonator) It drones around 70-75mph a little, but idle and cruising around town the car is pretty quiet. WOT its loud, but that doesn't bother me Been debating getting a test pipe with a mini-muffler on it, but I like the way the car sounds and I dont think the potential gains of going from HFC to test pipe will be worth potentially making the car louder. If I remember, I'll try to get some video this weekend. |

That's my understanding as well. Cat back doesn't really do much other than change the sound of the car, provided it's all the same size piping. i.e. your test pipe or HFC is a 3'' flange and so is your cat back.

The quietest that I've heard is the Buschur Racing Crossflow exhaust. That's why I bought it. Most of the others I heard sounded very good, but were far louder than I wanted for a daily driver. The Crossflow is by no means quiet like a stock exhaust, but it's quiet as far as 3" performance exhausts go.

I have the Invidia Q300 and it is very close to stock noise level and has a very pleasant growl.
A friend of mine has the ETS v2 Quiet and it sounds very similar to mine. Both quiet exhausts that are less restrictive than the stock set up, although the stock cat is what you really want to replace with a TP. I'm sure there are others, but those two I am familiar with. The T1r 76s was what I wanted, but was very hard to get my hands on. Their company is based out of Canada and they were very slow with responding to me. I eventually looked elsewhere. |
I've had two T1R-76S exhausts on two different Evo Xs. Power gain on the dyno is typical of most all aftermarket exhausts. But the sound, it's peerless as I've never heard another 3" anywhere near this quiet on the X. I'm a little bit older, and I don't want a super loud Evo, but still value the performance. This exhaust accomplishes that and then some.
