Enkei 9.5" Wheel Fitment Help
 

First time posting, as this is a little frustrating. I'm installing Enkei RPF1's 18x9.5+15 w/ Michelin PSS 265/35 tires on Swift Spec R springs on my Evo X. This has been beaten to death and everyone I see on this forum will say the rears need to be slightly rolled and the front wheels may rub the plastic lining in full lock.

Well now that I bought everything, the body shop I went too has told me that they can't mount the wheels because they are too wide and stick out past the fender (Almost an inch I'm told). Without even mounting the tires. This doesn't make any sense from what I've seen on this forum. I had planned to roll the rears and run about 1.5* camber in the rear, but I'm being told I'll have to pull the rear fenders to do what I'm asking, and run higher camber.

Does anyone have an opinion? Or can recommend a place in western CT or NY?

That's ridiculous. I'm running the same setup but with Eibach springs and they poke out slightly. I do rub on the front liner from time to time when making turns. Rears do have to be rolled. I'll post some picks when I get a chance

The Swift spec-r's might be more of a drop than the Eibachs. This thread might have some useful info http://www.evoxforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31253

The swifts are barely different than stock in the rear. Eibachs drop much more.

Just bring the loose wheels/tires into the shop and have them mount the tires and then put the wheels on the car yourself.

Eibachs drop the car lower than Spec Rs.

I'm running 18x9.5 +15 Enkei Kojins. I'm at stock height (suspension going on soon). Fronts rub slightly at full lock. Rears are going to need a roll when lowered. No issues here. Not sure why the shop is giving you a hard time.

Bogus... Im running 18x10.5 with +12 offset and they are just sticking out past the fenders by like maybe 1/2 inch

I have the same wheels/tires+size/springs. I rolled the rears, and yes the front wheels touch alittle at full lock. Other than that they look, ride and fit great. But if shops are giving you crap do as Razorlab said, have a shop mount the tires on the wheels, then go mount the wheels on the car yourself.

Thanks for the advice guys. Decided to swap out to 255 tires so they don't stick out as much, otherwise everything fits great. I appreciate the feedback..

Maybe it's the tires that are causing the problem? I am running Enkei Raijin Wheels (18x9.5 +15) with Stock Advan Tires (245/40/18) and Swift Spec R Suspension and I have no rubbing issues at all whatsoever without rolled fenders.

I have 18x9.5 +22 with 265/35 dropped on h+r springs I rub a little on full lock and I rolled the rear just to be safe. But all around rides great I know people running your set up with no significant problem. Car looks good congrats

LOL...with that wheel gap there shouldn't have been any fitment issues...Was the shop Discount Tire? I had those high school kids tell me my RPF1s wouldn't fit. I had to tell them to put them on anyway and I would "accept the risk", turned out I was right and they fit without rubbing at all. Now I have a 25mm spacer on them and with some rolling/pulling they still fit without rub. Shops that don't know anything about your car or the research you've done to make sure they'll fit just don't get it sometimes. I'm about to go to a set of 19x10 +22 RPF1s. Going to just get the tires put on and put the wheels/tires on myself. I've got rolled/pulled fenders and coilovers so I can adjust as needed.

Next time you can just get a higher offset like a 45 and you can even run a wider tire like a 285 and have much more grip

You can also run a wider rim with a higher offset so the wheel can tuck inside the fenders

Running the same set up also on lowering springs. Tell them to stop doing drugs.
