How to change Transfer case / rear diff / ACD/AYC liquid ?
Hi All,
Currently have a 2008 Evo x with 10k miles only but 8 years old, want to change both Transfer case, rear diff and ACD/AYC liquids, is there comprehensive guides to do it by myself ? As for the ACD/AYC, how to avoid bleeding ? Thanks ! |
before anyone copies the link from the diy, the pictures are down on it.

That is for the rear. The front one has pictures available through google its on the passanger side kind of near the oil drain plug. The rear is the one people are more nervous about usually because it takes 2 different types of fluids.

tcase and rear diff and manual tranny are easy,
acd/ayc and sst tranny i have no clue. seen some vids on sst tranny but not much on acd / ayc stuff |
That's because you don't service the acd/ayc system. Just service the fluids in the rear diff and your done.
|
So after draining I just fill until it reach the fill hole ?
|
yup you got it! Just make sure to use the appropriate fluid for the rear diff! And for the tranny I use MT-85 myself but there are a bunch of different choices.
|
Thanks, I bought everything from Redline should do the job soon

Just fair warning most people reccomomend diaqueen for the gear oil and the atf fluid for the front and rear diff changes. Something to do with that being the thing that works well with the clutch packs in the diff.

Does anyone have pics of drain/fill locations of the manual transmission?
|
Drain is 24mm, and fill is 17mm. This is from the other evo forum.
