Unplug the wiring harness under the seat? I haven't tried in my Evo X yet, but with my old Lancer that I had racing harnesses in, that's what I did.

I run the seatbelt around the back of the seat and buckle it in when I'm using my harnesses.

Doesn't unplugging that seatbelt wire harness disable the airbag? I heard that's what happens on alot of newer cars.

It could be the case that the airbag doesn't deploy, but I'm unsure how Mitsubishi's airbag system works. I know people who have gotten in accidents in other cars without a seatbelt on air their airbag went off. It may vary car to car, manufacturer to manufacturer.

But like goofygrin above said, just plug in the seatbelt if you're worried about it. Or you could just create the short on the harness beneath the seat to make it think the seatbelt is plugged in all the time. Get a multimeter and check if there's a resistance it needs to read, or if it can just be a shorted loop.

...or you can buy or try to just get the part of the seatbelt that clips into the buckle.

Cut one from a wrecked Lancer DE... cut all 5 of them and sell the 4 you don't use

Get a piece of thick plastic and trace the seat belt buckle and cut it to size. I use it all the time when I go to the track. Works perfect.
