+1. A pro mechanic snapped mine the other day. I'm going with a new Cosworth head but that's a $1k error not to mention having to pull the head.

I had to buy a new head since I must have not aligned bearings correctly when I was torquing down to measure the valve clearance. At least taking this chance to fully port it so not a total loss but what a pain!!!

So note to everyone doing this;
Be sure to check that dowel pins are seated before attempting to torque!

Any luck with this? I've picked up a set of the Tomei Poncams and won't be doing the head gasket, and likely not springs, with them. Though I'm kind of undecided on the spring situation since it's a really mild cam and my peak rpm is only 72xx, but it is my daily and I'd hate to have major issues. Either way, it would be much easier with a write-up similar to the mx1's that you've done.

i broke that bar that we call a CAM CAP!!! ams are selling those now for like 300$ BUT you have to make it machined at a shop so the total cost is like 600$ or around that!!! so if you break the cam cap..... buy a complete new head from cosworth!!! do not putt that broken cam cap in place!!! youre going to have to buy a complete new engine lol GREAT WRITE UP!! its exactly what ive done a couples months ago

No, once I started looking into that it became increasingly more clear that if you upgrade cams you need to upgrade springs.

I have ARP Head Studs on my block. When I went to remove all of the nuts they all came out fine except for the 2 on the left side close to the timing chain. Is there a special 13 mm socket need to remove these?? I cant get down in there with the normal 13 mm socket I have.
