HOW TO: Black out front grill trim w/out front bumper removal!

So I didn't see an actual how to so here is the method I used. DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. Here are the materials needed...

Plastic Dip, Alcohol, Painter's tape, scissors and blades or exacto knife.
1. Jack up the front of the car ( not needed but it makes it more comfortable)
2. Very important start to tape off the rest of the bumper by sliding the tape in between the trim and bumper like so.....

http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/1949/dscn2289j.jpg
Be very patient and don't rush this process this is the tradeoff for not taking off the bumper so again be patient unless you want to accidently paint your bumper{thumbdwn}

3. Once you have all the trim prepped it should look like this....

4. Tape newspaper to the rest of bumper......do not cheap out used as much as you think is enough, then put some more it is cheap insurance like so

5. Start spraying I used an old blanket to put on top of the rest of the car just cause I didn't want any overspray to get anywhere on the car.

Here are the results before and after......
TIPS; take your time, 30 to 45 min between coats and the reason for the knives is because as you spray the plastic dip forms a layer with the tape use the knife to cut or run along between trim and tape before you take the tape off if not you will end up with the tape pulling off the plastic dip.

That's it, let me know what you all think{thumbup}

Alcohol is for courage lol......yeah for cleaning the grill before spraying it. Also I thought about taking it off but I think it's less downtime figure take off bumper prep paint then wait for drying then put back bumper, as opposed to waiting once for it to dry. Either way thanks for liking it I might do the headlights next but I will need more alcohol lol

Dude. You created too much work just to do your trim pieces. Check out
http://www.dipyourcar.com/ They have write ups on how to use plastidip on your emblems. Much easier. Less taping.

Otherwise... Looks Great!!! :)

I had thought of doing it that way but I didn't really want to get platic dip anywhere other than where I want it to. I didn't want to deal with pealing and if you dont get the coats just right it can be a pain in the butt.
