iJDMToy's LED Switchback turn signals **New Thread/Need Help with power**
 

There was a thread about the new lights that iJDMToy.com had came out with..
but now it's gone.. out of thin air.. so I'm starting a new one!

What I've done so far:
This is ONLY for the passenger side
1) remove fluid tank
2) unplug 2 plugs (1 large, 1 small) from behind headlight assembly
3) tap in to blue wire (is connected to where the plugs plug into and leads to parking light - "assumed" power wire for parking lights from previous thread)
4) tap in resistor to power and ground before plug for turn signal *EDIT* Currently not working either since I'm getting the "hyper flashing blinker" -__-
5) plug in new switchback LED bulb

I was having a hell of a time trying to tap into the very thick blue wire (should have taken a photo of it before the tap in but I was running low on time/sun light).
I've tapped into it and exposed the wire so that I know forsure that the power wire from the LED and the "assumed power" wire from the parking light are tapped in together.

I tried to tap in a few different times and I seem to be having NO LUCK! :(
The LED switchback bulbs flashes normally with hazards and lock/unlock, but no power at all for the xenon white when I turn on the parking lights or headlights/hids.

If anyone can help me out, point me in the right direction, I will greatly appreciate it. There was one guy that was helping me out but I can't even find him on the forums anymore :crap:

I just need to know if I'm tapping into the right power supply (isn't powering) or if there's a different wire I need to tap into.

I'm going to go to Radio Shack tomorrow and see if there are some different tap ins than what I bought. I'm going to try and see if they work tomorrow night unless I get some help on here.

oh well I give up, I'm going to bring them into a local shop and see if they can do it for me.. meh

assumed? If it's not working that's probably not the wire then.

I tapped the sidemarkers for my switchbacks (V-LEDS). No hyperblinker, but they are designed to not have hyperblinker.

Edit: Mine are different, they are strip DRLs.

do you have any photos of the wire you tapped?
I tapped the blue wire that goes to the side markers..

well, it's an educated guess based on the previous thread and because it's what's going to the parking lights.. and also what the vendor recommended..

but then again, I did ask if this was the correct wire and started this thread to get help.. :helpme:

OP, you need power AND ground. Get a test light at NAPA and make sure the wire your tapping is in fact the parking lamp circuits power. If your doing any kind of electrical work you should also have a DMM. Good luck.

hey thanks for the good advice, I just dropped it off at a performance shop that I found on yelp. it's actually a block from my gf's house, so I walked home. haha.

they quoted me like $65 to $85 to install the lights
and they said they'd do it in the next few hours even without an appt!
I will update once I hear back from the later today..

I just dropped it off at ASP on Mission, it's also LightWurkz.
I found them on yelp, best reviews and also they carry uminitza (which is based in Concord, where I live). They have lots of lights, etc. My roommate got his Xenon angel eyes bulbs, etc there. They also carry HID fog lights for Evo X, but I decided not to get them even though, they're only $100! lol. I feel like it's overkill with the switchback leds and hids.. plus I just ordered some nokya h11 7000k's from hayward that should be at my house mon or tues.

I'll definitely update how the experience went.
Andrew helped me and totally knew what they were which gave me some confidence in them. I guess we will see when I go back!

Glad you found a shop to take care of it for you. Sometimes it's less expensive to pay someone than to buy all the tools to do a job. If you are going to do electrical work invest in a Digital Multi Meter (DMM) and a test light. Having a factory service manual is a plus too.

Did they install the load resistors too for $65.
