In-Car Camera Mounted on B-Pillar Bar

I was looking for a way to mount a video camera in the Evo and ended up with this. Since we don't have a roll cage in the car yet, there's no ideal place for a camera mount. So we raided the parts bin and grabbed a T1R B-Max Dry Carbon C-Pillar Bar, and mounted it to the B-pillars. Fortunately it was just the right length.

With the bar in place, we were able to mount the Ioport camera mount. Now the camera has a nice central position inside the car.

One drawback, you can't reinstall the B-pillar panel without cutting a hole in it. So we didn't reinstall it; hence the exposed metal.

Anyways, just wanted to share another way to mount an in-car camera.

That's a pretty sick design. Personally the lack of B-pillar covers doesn't bother me unless the metal is sharp enough to cut someone when grabbing it but otherwise for just track use that setup looks mint.

Would be interesting to see a piece like this avaliable to track enthusiasts. If the pillar would be easily installable, we could just install it within minutes before a track event and be able to use it as a camera mount location. And simply uninstall after the event.

I forgot to mention, the T1R Dry Carbon C-Pillar bar is from the Civic (EK) / Integra (DC2) application, 1000mm long.

Also, since the bar is dry carbon, I didn't want to scuff it up when I tightened the clamps on the Ioport mount, so I wrapped some cloth around the bar first.

Nah, there's nothing there that is sharp enough to cut anyone. Besides, it's not a place you'll be putting your hand anyways. It's just whether or not you want exposed metal showing.

The part is already available. It's a 1000mm long C-pillar bar for the Civic/Integra. Install and removal is super simple and fast... basically two bolts. So setting it up quickly for track use is no problem.
