Help with water spots???

I am having a hard time with the dealer removing the water spots that were on the car when I took delivery. I dropped it off 3 times and the spots are still there. When I picked up the car the day I bought it, they said it would be taken care of.

I assume the car sat on the lot and the droplets of water baked into the paint.

Any suggestions to motivate the dealer to resolve this issue? I have been warned to not let the porter at the dealer resolve this issue due to lack of experience.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Talk to Sam, tell him you want the car detailed... NOT WASHED.

You need to get the car waxed and it will remove all water spots.

or , the cheap fix, is use a glass cleaner... it removes the water spots easily.

you have to get it professionally clay bared to remove the water spot pits, it would also make the paint smooth but has to be backed up by a high quality wax as the clay bar removes some layer of paint, but any good detail shop will take care of this let your dealer know, you find one and let them pay for the work, hope this helps

Rinse -->presoak -->rinse-->wash with a sheep skin glove-->rinse-->clay bar-->cleaner wax-->wax-->polish--> enjoy!

All and all expect about 6 hours for the process. Well, that's how long it usually takes me but I'l a little insane with it. lol Enjoy.

getting rid of the spots is easy and I would recommend doing it yourself or pay a professional detailer to do it. Dont let the dealer touch it.

try KIT SCRATCH OUT, it worked on my car and was able to remove all the water spots that even the expensive wax could'nt.its in a yellow plastic bottle which you can find in wallmart.
i had thesame situation when i bought my car, it has water spots all over the paint especially in the sideskirts. i guess the car has also been sitting on the dealers lot for quite some time before it got sold.

I used to have horrible spots on my Evo's paint. It was so painful to notice them every time I approached my car. Finally, I said **** this, and I took it to a very good wash and detail shop. They charged me about $170, but you won't believe how new my paint looks now. I am very impressed and I may do it again next year. I recently went to an Evo car meet in the Dallas area, and my Evo IX MR SE looked newer than all the Evo's including the X's. The owner of the Local Mitsubishi Dealer was there and he was seriously impressed. I know I spent a lot of money for the full sevice detail, but it was worth every penny. I think they used the high speed buffer and also used the gentle buffer that polishes the finish of the car. It took about 4 hours and I have no regrets. If you decide to go the route I chose, then I would go to a very good shop and show the service manager what the problem is and he will find the solution for you. If you want the dealer to take care of the problem for you, then I would request to speak to the manager at the dealership and ask him to help you solve the problem. Good luck and I wish you all the best!!!!!!!!

I had water spots bake onto my rear and front bumper. I had to clay it to remove them. Everything else that I tried did nothing. Good ol Mitsu paint.

I've also heard that Mitsu paint is very cheap.....But I just don't want to believe it since I like my Evo so much.

Try carnu-b...its a wax but it takes out water spots. Even really bad ones...no joke. I am really picky about things I use on my car and this stuff works great. Forget all the other stuff above me...i had a similar situation as you and this wax works those water spots right out.you can get it at carnu-b.com. I have a black car and tried everything to get my waterspots off... and this stuff was as simple as it can get. everyone above has great suggestions above but this wax ****s on all of them. I was so happy with this stuff, i bought a case of its right after i saw how well it worked.

Had similiar situation when I got my evo x and had to use clay bar and porter cable polisher, to get the paint smooth and water spots off. If you don't have the time to do it then take it a professional detailer. If you want to do it yourself set a side at least a whole day, that way you can take your time.

Only thing I haven't had success with is getting the water spots off the vinyl black stickers on the door pillars. Those seemed more etched in. Being it's only a sticker you can't really sand and polish like a painted surface.

Anyone have any good ideas for getting the water spots off of these, other than replacing them?

I don't really think that $170 is that bad honestly man... there's plenty of places that charge $200 and up for a good detail job.
