Painted Rims Problems after 4 Months

I had my rims painted prior to me taking delivery of my car. I just noticed that all 4 rims are already starting to show signs of wear and you can see the alloy pretty easily. It does not appear that the painter used any primer - is that normal?

My wife bought an '08 ford escape and had the dealer put in seat heaters as part of the purchase price and when they broke they were covered under the original factory warranty b/c it was done before we took delivery of the car - does the same apply with the rims?

Any comments/suggestions would be welcomed - thanks

needs to be powder-coated- not painted.

It will last longer.

ive painted almost all of my rims... except my rota P45R's that i had on my evo... i even painted my 335i's stock rims..

the proper way is to apply primer, the paint you would like to use and a CLEAR coat, the clear coat is one of the most important parts... it lasted for well over a year still shiny...

yea i was posting to the guy above you. you rims look pretty sweet. i'm hoping the guy will redo them but i know theres going to be a fight. it sounds like common knowledge though that you would put some sort of primer on though...

fyi - all 4 rims look pretty much the same w/ that speckle pattern all over. its more evident after the rims are washed

sand, prime, paint, clear.

Prep is key and it looks like the prep job sucked. You can talk to the dealer, but I bet they don't do anything (or they refer you to their painter).

they should have used primer. the clear coat is an important step 2.

sounds like a consensus that they did a ****ty job...time to call the dealer...i sent them an email already. i think i may have a shot since the car was sold w/ painted rims as an additional option and it looks like poor workmanship since there is no primer on the wheels. the guy painted it outside the dealer in his popup traveling tent lol and it was pretty cold out (December in the northeast). probably cobb jobbed it to get warm
