is the aero kit a good idea in Boston?

I've been waiting to get an X for a while and now I have a chance. However, I'm pondering if I should get the aero kit or not. First of all, I really like the look and I've heard the side skirts help great with rock chips. On the other hand, I've heard many stories about these kits falling off and I've also heard of some people with the kit having problems with scraping. Lastly, I live in Boston where it snows quite a bit and the road conditions are generally crappy. Any suggestions out there? Any Boston X'ers have any experience to share?

I have the aero kit in Cleveland area, as much or more snow, probably as much or more salt and I can't see how the roads could be much worse.

No issues with the kit, actually think the front air dam helped a little with the snow. The black rubber piece loosened up but that happens to everyone. Just need to replace the pins. I definately think the aerokit is better for protecting the paint.

i have the aero kit and i live in north new jersey.. we get a lot of snow as well. i deffinatly like the way the kit looks how ever i do have the occasional scrapage happen here or there. the only damage that occurs on scraps is usually that rubber piece attached to the front lip. that can be fixed under warranty i think. but i think the non aero kits look cleaner but that might just be a "the grass is always greener on the other side" type thing.

Thanks for the input guys. Originally, i was going to go with the Rally Armor mudflaps, kit or no kit (to protect the paint). But I was told that the with kit, attaching the RA mudflaps might result in the kit falling off easier due to the flaps pushing on the kit from all the blast its getting (mud, snow, salt, etc.).

Doubt it...I have the OEM mudflaps and have had no issues.
After a whole winter:
