HVAC Led Size?? Panel removal?

Does anyone know what size LED's are used to light up the HVAC controls and ashtray area? Has anyone removed their HVAC controls? I hate playing the where's the hidden screw/clip guessing game, it always leads to something breaking. Thanks in advance!

Edit: 0603 SMD

They're about the size of a small grain of rice

It's held in with 4 white plastic clips

To remove it, you have to remove a whole lot of stuff. I took out just about everything in order to get this thing out. Sucks *** the way Mitsubishi designed this crap to fit together like clockwork.

Sorry, the exact lights you need would be:

0603 SMD

Thanks Frankiago! I was beginning to loose hope haha

Wait so they are bulbs, not LED's that make the orange color? Are those 0603 SMD's the same for the ashtray light up? Do you think you could give me a little more detail as to what order each console piece needs to be removed and how many screws there are? I found this image but wasn't sure if they are all interlaced with each other. I put a short shifter and navi in so I can get all those pieces apart ok, just not sure how to tackle those side panels and lower center console.

Did you swap yours out? Thanks again!

The lights come from multiple 0603 SMD LEDs. They are smaller than a grain of rice and usually come in a reel or strip and you take it off of the strip to replace the OEM ones with.

The ash tray lights are actually on the exact same circuit as the HVAC controls. The HVAC controls have FOUR of these tiny LEDs for each knob, 12 o'clock, 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions IIRC.

The ash tray lights are a result of two small semi-circles cut from the top of the cubby hole and the circuit card hangs down and the LEDs are at the very bottom of this card to shine light down through this semi-circle hole. I can't remember if there is one for each hole or two, but you'll see as soon as you get it apart. Either way it's the exact same 0603 SMD LEDs as you're going to use to replace the HVAC ones.

In total it should be either 14 (if there's only 1 LED per side in the cubby) or 16 (if there's 2 LEDs for each semi-circle)

Ok so you've already removed the entire center console/armrest area to do the short shifter, so I'd get to that point (the two 10mm bolts under the arm rest, pulling all the shifter panels up, unclipping a couple of things, a few philips-head screws, etc)

Now you should also have the dash trim off via the philips-head screw on the far right side. Pull the head unit out, unclip the hazards button... you'll see two philips-head screws holding the HVAC panel in, take those out.

Down at the bottom, according to your picture #14 on the driver's side and passenger's side has two philips-head screws that hold it to the center console. You'll need to take those two out because they kinda wedge the HVAC/cubby hole in. Pulling them OUTWARDS (driver's side panel towards driver, passenger's side panel towards passenger) frees up the HVAC/cubby from pulling straight out. There's a white clip holding it in on all four corners, that's the only thing holding it in, as long as you have the two screws I mentioned earlier removed from behind the navi bezel (your Scosche or JDM double-din kit, whatever).

Careful with these, I lost one... it fell deep into one of the many crevices.

Oh and the clockwork part I mentioned was the two #14's from your picture and how they hold the HVAC in and I think that's retarded... along with having to pull the radio/navi face in order to get those two philips-head screws...

I haven't done the swap yet, but I've gotten pretty damn involved in this where I could've done it on like 3 occasions because all of this stuff was removed. I relocated my hazards button to install a Zeitronix wideband/boost/EGT gauge in its place... and you're welcome.

Dope Thanks fellas! Any idea if there is a specific type of LED I need or will any 0603 work? I found these off digikey (remove spaces).
