I've been a part of this community for almost 3 years and it's finally time for me to show my Evo. 2011 WW X GSR Sight & Sound. Picked her up last night.




I'm still a noob at driving manual tranny, but I'm willing to dedicate my time and learn. Flame me...>

thats the way i learned, not with an evo though, if a manual is the only car you have to drive, you have no choice but to learn how to drive a manual, good luck and enjoy the evo

Thanks guys! I went out with my dad for a few minutes last night, the dude has ZERO patience. He yelled at me when I wasn't riding the clutch on slow turns ROFL. The clutch smelled like rotten food. Going to have to change it in the near future.

 

Just granny shift that bish and hold the clutch to the floor until you feel the shifter engage. Once it has, let the clutch go and give it some throttle.

Just be very basic and fundamental until you get the hang of it. It will help save the clutch.

Don't worry if the car jumps a bit on you. That's perfectly normal for someone who is learning.

Shifting smoothly comes with experience and an all around feel for the car.

Good looking '11. Yea I would just do very slow shifts until you get comfortable. I wouldn't mod anything until you learn to drive it.

 

I've pretty much got it all down except for hills. Dreaded hills.

 

I hated hills too. I learned (once I got a feel for the car) to keep my right foot on the brake and let out the clutch out with my left foot till I felt it start grabbing then just quickly let go out the brake and give it gas while continuously letting out the clutch. I also learned how to drive stick on my 2010 GSR. In a few months you won't even realize your driving stick it becomes such second nature. Congrats on the car and good luck!!

Nice EVO! Not tryna hate but Goodluck with that clutch since u sed ur new 2 driving stick n ur tryna learn on this!! n if ur on a hill jus giv it sum juice! Haha you'll b aight! I personally lyk 2 rock mine back n forth on hills...don't kno y?? But it's fun 2 me!! Haha n I always get stares!!!

 

That's how my dad was taught to drive stick and that's how he taught me. Made me drive out on our neighborhood's main street which is a hill at a 30 or so degree angle. Made me stop with the car facing uphill and said go. Never have I stalled a car so much. BUT I got the hang of it eventually and when on the real streets and in traffic I never worried about it. Well, except for the one time when I stalled it 3 times in a row trying to rev higher and higher not realizing I was trying to start driving in 3rd gear.

 

i learned in my x for the first time.... i can say its not the easiest car to drive. but once u get ahold of it in this car, any other car is a brezze. As many people said find a hill, preferably a less used area so you dont have to worry bout traffic and do hill starts. The evo is a mans car! dosent have hill start assist like a pansy sti (bro has one)! lol good luck
