ETS V2 Quiet Exhaust vs V2+DP+HFC vs Stock - Vids & Review

Vids and review for each of the stages I went thru. Only other performance mods are ETS Intake & UICP.

Stages:
1) added ETS V2 Quiet Exhaust
2) added Cobb Accessport
3) added HFC and AMS downpipe

Review of each Stage:

PERFORMANCE (no dyno's for anything, so it's just my own feel.)
- V2 Quiet only:
- it did feel quicker, but moderately at best. However, it spooled faster, and was much more responsive over stock.

- added Cobb AP Stage 1:
- WOW, big difference here! It pulled much harder, and had a great feel. Fell in love with the car all over again.

- V2 Quiet+HFC+DP: (Stage 2 map)
HOLY CRAP! The beast came out. It sets you back in the seat, and pulls hard the entire way. Everything is just heightened... it's like E for your car!

SOUND
(based on my ears) If stock is at 0%, then here's the increase for each:
AT IDLE
- V2 Quiet only:
Increased sound at idle by 2-3%. But it was much deeper. Sounds awesome. Moderate growl to it. Won't wake your neighbors.

- V2 Quiet+HFC+DP:
Increased idle by another 3-5%. So now, it's about 5-8% louder than stock. And it is even deeper now. A real growl at idle. Perfection! But, the neighbors will hear you start it up.

NORMAL DRIVING (Shifting around 3k-3500RPM)
- V2 Quiet only:
Sound increased by 10-15% over stock. It gives the car life. Sound, spool, performance is everything the factory car should have been. Nice deep sound. Could clearly hear the Intake sucking in air, and BOV chirp. With windows up, it was easy to hold a conversation. It maintains some class.

- V2 Quiet+HFC+DP:
This was substantially louder... another 10-20% over the V2, or 20-35% louder than stock. But an awesome exhaust note. Just normal driving gives an amazing deep throaty growl to it. I've even been driving with the radio off just to hear it. But make no mistake IT IS LOUDER. Conversations are not as easy, radio needs to go up, and it brings attention. Your girlfriend will hate it.

***** OUT DRIVING
- V2 Quiet only:
This is hard to say in terms of % increase of sound from stock. To me, it sounded like it was twice as loud with your foot into it. But, I don't know if that's really the case in terms of decibels. But, whatever.. your WOT, it will be loud, and it sounds GREAT! She's a bit of freak, but still has some class.

- V2 Quiet+HFC+DP:
OMG.. what a mean throaty growl. But it's loud.. REAL LOUD.. this is the "Screamer"... and it's dirty.

Bottom line:
No regrets. I couldn't imagine a better combination with the ETS V2 Quiet as the exhaust. To me, with the HFC and DP added, it borderlines too loud, but the extra power is worth it.

And the Vids:
(all were taken with the same setup on the camera, and exact same location.)

1) video for stock:

2) for V2 Quiet (stock HFC & Downpipe):

3) for V2 Quiet + HFC + AMS Downpipe:

Good sound. Likely will hold off on a downpipe til I get a turbo, but that's close to my "stage 1" upgrades I wanna do. Thanks for the review!

You did a great job show and explaining in detail stock, vs the v2 quiet, then w/ hfc. I saw a few youtube clips prior to buying mine and wishing someone had done a better job than posting ricer flybys since it doesn't help much.

Send a message to ETS Michael on here. He gets plenty of questions about the loudness of that setup, I'm sure he'd keep those clips for reference.

No offense taken. Any aftermarket exhaust will be significantly louder than the restricted stock system. If more power isn't a goal, then stick with stock.

But if you want power, you have to go aftermarket, and compared to other aftermarket systems, the ETS V2 Quiet is infact quiet.

Michael, sent you an email.

Great write-up!
I have a similar setup in mine (ets + Cobb HFC, + Cobb DP). I used to use the Stage 2 map from the AP, but got a pro-tune a few months back. One thing to note was that the stage 2 maps was running excessivly lean. Not too dangerous except when doing a WOT pull from 2500-3500 RPM (which was wierd as that's only when it begins to boost). But each car is different so take that with a grain of salt. Either way the pro-tune gave me another 25hp from the stage 2 map and the difference to me at least was noticeable.

Enjoy the ride man! It only gets better the more $$ you spend

Great videos, I wish there were videos like these available when I was searching for an exhaust. I ended up going with the V2 system but never got around to having the high flow CAT installed.

I've the ETS Quiet V2, with cobb downpipe and cobb HFC. Its really not that loud, compared to when I had a test pipe. Not much droning as well on the freeway, and the low growl when you step on it sounds really awesome.

Great videos! After watching, it makes me want to grab a nice ETS V2 quiet. I currently am running my 08 MR stock.
