How to transport wheels/tires for events

I want to get a roof rack that will alow me to transport my rally wheels/tires to and from events so that I can drive there on my street tires and switch at the event.

Anyone know of a roof rack that is capable of this?

Wow dunno about that...That seems awkward for install and removal and is almost asking for a dropped wheel onto the car during removal.

Rally wheels and tires are generally heavy. i wouldn't put on the roof on my car.
We always had a support vehicle.
One reason is , if the car got forbid brakes down, there is no problem to get home the car and ourselves.
Then the parts - tools- gas etc to carry + if we need food etc there is a car to go and pick it up.
Also at the events you can store cloths etc in the support vehicle.

It is always the best idea to tow the car to the event and having a spare parts - tools and so at the event.

Rob, I'm sure you're right but I'm just getting started in rallyX and am trying to get my feet wet without braking the bank. If the Porsche guys can do it, I'm sure the eov is up for it.

I may just end up renting a truck and trailer but I'd like to find a cheeper way so I can do more events. There aren't any events nearby as I'm in Texas.

you can get a set of tire-totes for about $40. I just use them and throw the things in the back seat. Pleanty of room for wide slicks, so im sure smaller rally tires will fit too

Why don't you just put them in the back?

I toss mine in the back seat with tire totes on. If you get the higher quality ones (i.e. not the $20 ones from tirerack) they actually zip up and are more like a tire bag!

I can fit four 18x10.5 wheels running 285/30/18 tires in the back without issue.

I like to add that the roof racks states that the max weight is 125lbs so you can only probably fit 2 wheels up there. I usually just stick 2 in the back seat with my tool box and 2 in the trunk(take the particle board and spare tire out.)
