235/40R18 on stock wheels?

Hi all,

Looking for my next set of replacement tires. I want to preserve the turn-in sharpness of the stock A13c so I'm looking for highly stiff sidewall.

I'm thinking about the Potenza RE-71R as they seem to be good performers - can anyone shed some light on the idea of stepping down to a 235/40R18 (1.2% diameter reduction) to stiffen up the sidewall a little bit? Will I miss the extra 10mm of tread width?

Thanks all..

the RE-71R will be an improvement in every way over the stock tire. I'd stick to stock 245 size. You really won't notice the difference in sidewall stiffness between a 245 and 235

The tire will be a step up, but going narrower will take away some overall grip being a smaller footprint. Not much sidewall stiffness difference (say that 3x's fast) between those sizes.
