Ohlins Road and Track or KW V3

I have a very bad experience with the KW V3 , but my friend told me they did changed somethings on it and he think they are equally good with the Ohlins R/T.
But he thinks the KW V3 is less maintenance and better for what I need. which is basically street driving but spirited if you will.

I would like to gather some infos, since I didn't buy any street suspension like 8 years lol.

So if you guys can help me on service and comfort between these two.
Also the settings you like etc,

Thank You very much .

Rob

(I will run 265's low profile like 35 tires, but harder than 200 UTQG rates)

Ohlins for sure. You can order them from Performance Shock in California, they can do custom spring rates, and they'll revalve them for free on the initial sale.

KW springs rate are garbage, and they can't be revalved. And the 3 X's I've driven with V3's, they also don't ride well at all. The Ohlin's on my car blow them away.

thank you. My friend made my head spinning with a new KW V3 ideas.
I do not need any special i was just wondering if anything changed after 8 years.

Ok Ohlins was my idea too.. I only use it for street, maybe once a while on track. So i probably looking for something on the softer side.

Any good spring rates for a 3500 lbs car? Maybe some info you can put there. I really dont looking for something needs a revalveving, maybe a softer spring rates.

The Ohlins for the Evo X come with 10k front and 7k rear springs. What would work best is raising the rear rate to 10k, and revalving the rear dampers. I wouldn't bother with going softer, the RT is such a good damper it will still ride grerat with 10k springs all around. My car is 10k/12.5k and rides awesome.

The car will be pushy. But if you don't care, I guess it doesn't matter.

Ohlins. KW's are garbage. I've had both. The ohlins are night and day difference overall.

I run Ohlins at 10k/10k with out of the box valving. They are fine.

At some point i'll go higher rates and will revalve using Performance Shock to do it, they are a fantastic operation. (and local to me)

The cool thing about PSI is they revalve for free on your initial purchase. So if you're buying springs, might as well do it..

I told them what I need . Mainly street driving maybe some track days in a year 1 or maybe two. ( rather use the rally car for racing) They said the Ohlins for me as good as it comes in the box for that. I don't think I will change anything. Unless stiffening up the rear to 10, makes that much of a difference

Here in NY, and surroundings area the roads are not as nice as let say CA or FL . Far worst. Very bumpy and hars many places. That is why I really do hesitate to stiffen a car up.

I think you will be just fine with the 10k/7k rates with the Evo 10 for the street and occasional track day.

If not, taking the rears off and swapping springs is easy.

As far as being afraid of spring rates, the Ohlins dampening and it's DFV tech far exceeds other shocks. High spring rates are downright comfy compared to the same higher rates on other shocks.

Example, my 10k/10k Ohlins ride MUCH better than my 8k/8k Apexis did.

My 10k/12k ohlins ride better than the 9k/11k stances that came off the car. And they ride better than the 8k/8k fortune auto 510's on another local guys 9...
