Need some opinions on suspension

Some I'm stuck debating on two options for the suspension setup on my car. I have a GSR with Bilstein struts from an MR with H&R springs. I have no complaints, but the struts are very rusted and are probably in need of replacement. I'm stuck between replacing the Bilsteins with another set while keeping the H&R's, or picking up some Tein Flex Z's. What are your thoughts?

Stay away from the cheapo coilovers, they're really not worth it. Find another set of bilstiens, or get actual good coilovers. Fortune Auto being the bare minimum, or spend another few hundred on Ohlins.

Not sure on the evo x but I've used Tiens in the past with much success.

Yeah I'm still torn on deciding. This car is my daily, so I certainly don't want to spend $2,500.00+ on something that I'm not going to benefit from. But I also don't to buy something that can't be serviced. I see that the Flex Z's have a replaceable strut that can be removed from the coil-over assembly. But I want to make sure those parts will be available down the line, and not something you can't find a year or two out.

Since you live in an area where rust is a concern, and you need daily driveability, I would suggest a set of KW V3 coilovers. They are stainless steel and will hold up well for years.

You can probably get Ohlins for less than $2300 now, if you contact MAP and mentioned that you are a forums member. Free Shipping.

You will not regret the purchase.

Thanks for the input everyone! Still deciding on which route to take, it'll be a few months before I decide. Working on some other things first!

The post about not buying cheap coilovers is the right advice. Not only will you not regret the ride improvement, they will hold resale better. If you make other improvements to the suspension, the better coilovers will handle "keep up" with the other changes. It's an expensive car, don't skimp. Ohlins, KW Variant 3, Fortune (the better ones), are all good choices.

AMR takes forever and a half and then some to actually get a set or to get something repaired. Someone with an RSX bent one of his during an off track excursion and it took 4 or 5 months to get a replacement. AMR is prolly decent, but its not good enough to justify those kinda wait times

I recommend Fortune Auto's If I ever switch over to coilovers those would be my go to, if you like where your ride height is right now and replacing struts is the cheaper option then go with that.

used em for about 3 years. For the price they are a decent buy. Can be harsh on rough bumpy roads. Had to soften mines a bit after about a year or so.

I'm extremely happy with my Feal 441 coilovers. MAP gave me a great deal on them. You get great customer service from Feal as well. If you have any questions about their products they get back in touch with you within a few hours.

The Bilsteins are a really, really good strut/shock and will perform light years better than Tein. I agree on staying away from cheap coilovers. KW is a decent compromise. They ride decent and, as mentioned above, resist rust really well. I'm not sure that they will be as comfortable as the Bilsteins, though.

Maybe its just me going from a ****ty air suspension the previous owner of my car had installed but I couldn't be happier with the Fortune 500's. I got the upgraded radial bearing with the standard fortune springs, feels very smooth even over bad pavement. Has 24 way adjustment for stiffness, I just kind of put mine somewhere in between. Could also upgrade the springs to swift but thats another 300 or so dollars.
