Best wheel spacers with stock wheels?

Sigh. As I sat there looking at my car yesterday at a meet I realized just how sunken in the front wheels look with 3* of camber.

I really don't want to afford new wheels right now, so I'm thinking of running a spacer to bring the wheel out. It will have to added benefit of helping my turn in and widening my track for, pardon the pun, the track.

What spacers and size do you recommend? I'm not sure if I want to put new studs in. Frankly I'm not sure I want to run spacers at all...

dependents on your wheel size and tire size. It might will rub. Also i'm not a fan for the spacers. If you do get them , check them vigorously.

I think you better off if you ask around the bottom in the main page where is the rac threads are .

Well it looks like your stock wheel size is 18x8.5 +35 and the most common EVO X wheel size is a 18x9.5 +22 so we'll do some calculations.

Stock wheel size:

8.5" = 215.9mm (round to 216mm)

1/2 of 216mm is 108mm

108mm - (+35) = 73mm

73mm = 2.87"

2.87" is the distance from the top of the brake hat to the outer edge of the wheel.

Common aftermerket wheel size:

9.5" = 241.3mm (round to 241mm)

1/2 of 241mm = 120.5mm

120.5mm - (+22) = 98.5mm

98.5mm = 3.88"

3.88" - 2.87" = 1.01"

So a 18x9.5 +22 sticks out 1.01" (rounded) more then your stock wheels. So its safe to say that if you get a 1" spacer your going to have the same stance. I have ran spacers on my car before and as long as you make sure you torqued the spacer onto the car correctly you should be fine.

i just bought some 18x8.5 with a 38 offset for my evo 8, when we test fitted it was rubbing the front calipers when we put a spacer on it was ok do you think i should use the spacers (3/4in) as i thinks its a bit too far from the hub itself.
advice on this please thanks

No you should be fine. I wouldn't go over 1" on a nice car like an EVO but I have 1.25" front and 1.5" on my AE86 which I have drifted on occasion and its worked out fine.

5mm spacers make a huge difference to the way the X looks, and you kep the original studs too

How expensive is it to run spacers and will it affect performance?

Anyone have some sample pictures of an X with spacers?

if you run anything larger than 5mm you will need to get longer studs or you can get the integrated ones like TF posted

I think for looks it's nice. Lots of arguments of them being safe if pushed hard.
