Questions about rims
Questions about rims
I found a nice looking set of alloy rims on ebay, and i had a couple of questions...
1) Do white rims look good on a black car? and
2) i live in syracuse, where its winter for about 7 months of the year, so i was wondering if the rims will hold up during the winter, or should I wait until next year when the weather turns nice again?

1.) That's a question you have to answer yourself. I like white rims on smaller hatch backs but on nothing else... to me it has nothing to do with the color of the car so much as the size... but that's just me. I'm strange.
2.) I'd wait till next year. Save your money. Find a shop near you and see what looks on your car. Ebay is good for small stuff... I'd hold off on something like rims. Again, just me.

1. It is ultimately your choice but you would not ask the question unles you value teh opinion of strangers. The majority of ppl will tell you that white rims do not look good, they are jsut ricey.
White is overplayed no matter what color car you put it on. I'd also suggest waiting on wheels. Either that or use your stock wheels for the winter cuz of the bad weather and salt on the roads.
i have a set of white adr reaction rims on thunder gray lancer..... and i like it..... its totally up to you if u wanna go with white rims.....what pgmike said pple will say its ricey.... if u decide to get rims during winter i suggest u leave your stocks and keep your rimz away in the garage where it wont get damage by weather....
White rims look very very good on a black lancer. I too thought it would look bad, intil i saw mitsumichael black ralli-art with white rims @ a recent sclc meet and it was dope. My thought of white rims was clearly turned. IMO they do look good, and rims hold up really well in the seasons. Winter might be different because there no such thing as alloy white, there painted white, so you might want to think about that.
Also having white rims on a black car or any color car for that matter is not rice. Dam, you guys label rice to anything, its like, i just got my car wash... RICE! I just got my oil changed by mitsubishi...RICE! I just put in a full tank of gas... RICE! My car won't start... RICE!

Thanks for the input... good thing i dont care what people think.... and does that make me a bad person if I want my car to look fast but have no *****??? i have ***** and thats enough for me haha... by the way what is the lug nut pattern on an 04 es, and what's the largest rim size one can go before it either looks stupid or it ruins the ride?
first, YES, you are a terrible, terrible person for making your car look fast when it's really not! that's just plain RICE!!
i'm just playin'. i think you should have a vision of how YOU want your car to look and do it up accordingly.
about the bolt pattern...i'm 99% sure it's 4 x 100. if i'm incorrect, someone please correct me.
as far as the max wheel size...go with 23s!! spinners no less!! wOOt wOOt!! again...just playin'. it kind of depends on your idea of poor ride quality. i am personally running 17s with 205/40/17 tires and i love it. sure, you feel the road more than w/ stock wheels & tires, but it's not too bad. hard core racers will tell you not to go larger than a 15. imo a 17 looks just right on a lancer. if you are after a good looking daily driver that you may or may not want to break land-speed records with, i'd say do 17s or 16s...ok, 17s. and if ya want white, do white.

Ah well, at least you're respectful in your replies.
Get whatever YOU think looks best, and see if you can keep your stock rims for Winter use, or at least get some tires on the new rims that will work in that weather.
Bolt pattern for the ES is 4x100. I've seen our Lancers with wheels as big as 19s on em, with the 19s not even being able to turn fully after dropping the car with Eibachs. 18s would be as big as you can safely go and 17s with a 205/40 series tire maintain the same turning radius as the stock 14s (another factor to think about).
/\ good call ghostrider...and thanks for the bolt pattern confirmation. with the outter diameter staying pretty much the same as stock while maintaining at least a bit of meat on the wheel, you're pretty safe with 17s. i mean, you still have to look out for potholes, but it's better than 18s wrapped in rubber bands. but yeah, going with 19s just kills the drivability IMO.
