i know this has been talked about a lot..but do you guys think the evo's resale is going to keep dropping so drastically? i mean i was told this car would have a good resale value because of it's rarity and performance..i've been looking at the rsx-s lately and it's resale value is almost as high as the new value for most people and dealers selling them..
also on another note..other than the 4g63 what is the reliability of this car? i mean i see everyone blowing up this, and having to get new that and warranty not covering this and what not. i mean i know it's a performance car but i need some security knowing that at least i dont have to feel like any minute my cars gonna crap out on me..how long do people think with normal driving and a race once in a while, this car will last..i mean besides the obvious (brake pads, tires, etc.)
i know it MAY sound like a NEWBIE question..but i just wanna hear everyones opinions on this all at once thanks guys
(i'm not a newbie..i'm evolving

The evo is rated #1 on the resale value for sedans. So out of all the cars the evo will hold the best. And as far as the car lasting, the better care of it you take the longer it will last.
I'll give you some feedback. Based on your post above, I don't think you have the right temperment to own an EVO. For one thing, you worry too much. You don't say if you already own one or not. If you do, sell it. If you don't, I'd say a Toyota Prius would be perfect for you.

Man, you got issues much more serious than the resale value of your EVO. I think you need to seek professional help. I'm sure your college/school offers free or inexpensive counselling. Do yourself a big favor and take advantage of it.
Woah calm yourself. I can't help you here cause I don't buy cars based on resale value. I take care of my cars and usually own them for at least five years but If I factored that in everytime I bought a car I wouldn't drive it cause I would be afraid to put miles on it
I understand your situation though, however I am not sure if you are really in a financial crisis or just spewing words cause Richard pissed you off and he has a S4. My first impressions of your post made it seem like you are not extremely set on buying an EVO, now that I know you have one it seems like you aren't 100% happy with it. So what is it?

its that a) i am in a financial crisis..i paid outright for my car..i do not make payments..but i will be graduating in may..i have no where to live after that and as of this minute i have no income because I have no job due to the size of my course load this and next semester...i'm not jealous of his s4 i would rather much own my evo than an s4..and you're right I didn't like that richard had to put his stupid .02 in which was irrelevant to my questions..but I do have a financial crisis and the only reason i'm worried about the resale value..is if in 2 years from now (2 years and 6 months after buying the car) i will probably at age 24 be grown a little and need something a little more affordable since I will plan on purchasing a house as soon as possible after I start my career..if my trade in value is riculously low at that time, then what good is that to my goal of security and buying a house you know what I mean? i love the car, in fact i'm obsessed...as richard says tho i dont need professional help, i just need his stupid *** to get off my back for asking for some peoples opinions..anyways maybe this will clear things up for him, and maybe other people will chime in and let me know what they think..thanks
Resale value, I know what you mean, I see loads of nice sportscars for one third their orig price for sale all the time. Cars are money pits and new cars forget about it. The wise way to buy is get a three year old car still under Factory warrenty. A used Evo is to much of a gamble to me so I went new expecting to take a big hit if I choose to sell.
This is my first Mitsubishi and am used to Honda/Toyota longevity durability. I will be watching Richard350z post to see how his tracked EVO holds up. also check out the Thunderhill event to see what the MR can take. only time will tell. Remember the EVO is still made in Japan so the quality should be good. The motor is old school and will be in its current form for only one more year.
My shrink says I am a crazy car freak but i am proud of it.

If you're worrying about your trade in value as getting into the way of your financial security and buying a house, then, simply put, you need to take a course in financial management. A car is one thing, and one thing only, an EXPENSE. It is not an investment. Stop worrying about your car's resale and start worrying about things that you can actually control. Like getting a good job. If you've already paid outright for your Evo, much props to you. You're already ahead of the curve. If your credit is ok and you end up getting a decent job, then getting a house should be no problem. As long as interest rates stay fairly low, it'll be about the same as getting an apartment (not counting the worries of maintenance and taxes).
NEways, the Evo seems to be a fairly reliable car, especially considering how far it manages to push the performance envelope. It will always be a high maintenance car and you gotta figure your Evo's longevity will be directly related to how you treat it. I've put almost 20K miles on mine (the last 10K running a Vishnu stage 1+) and I'm still on the stock clutch and brakes, and my orginal set of Advans still have tread on them (quite contrary to what a lot of post here led me to believe). I drive the car hard, but I don't abuse it (read: no 5K clutch drops, no drifting) and I try to maintain it according to schedule.

Mine has 547 miles on it and no problems, as good as the day I bought it last Friday.
I also saw a post on here that claimed the '05's have a 120mph rev limiter, and I'm glad to say I proved them wrong tonight. In fact there was no limiter even at 140.

^ what problems would you encounter with just 547 miles on the clock? out of gas?
btw, according to the owner's manual, you didn't break-in your car properly.
and, i think that the speed limiter is a ca thing.
