How Do U Remove Throwout Bearing?!
How Do U Remove Throwout Bearing?!
Ok sorry for posting this in the NEWBIE section and not in the how to, but i need this info ASAP... the tranny wont separate from the engine because i guess the throwout bearing is holding it to the engine. Well i can see inside the tranny thru the lil rubber hole opening, but now i dont know how to separate the throwout bearing from the pressure plate. How do i go about doing this...i need specific directions please thank u!
i'm not sure how the lancer is but in my work truck (98 ford ranger) t oget to teh throwout bearing you have to drop the whole transmission out of teh car. it may be diff. for front wheel drive cars but i don't know.
there is a small brass colored cap , you pop that out then that allows you to access area to remove throw out bearing assembly, you have to unspring the assembly also, it has been awhile and to be honest I don't remember what holds it in there, I just remember having to pop the cap out,and undoing the spring tension

ok im not sure if i asked right...i just need directions on how to disengage the throwout bearing, i know how to get to it, im already there. I just need specific directions...what do i do...so far i've pushed the release dfork in the correct direction, then stuck a flathead inbetween the wedge collar of the throwout bearing and the release bearing and i just softly pry to make sure i dont break it, but do i need to give ti some force? also i dont get what they mean by twisting the screwdriver grip 90 degrees? do u mean TWIST the grip or actually pry it like im trying to POP it off?
another concern is....i attatched my new throwout bearing onto my new pressure plate assembly to try it on the new one in the open light to see if i can get it off, but now the new throwout bearing is stuck onto the new pressure plate...so question is....is it possible to put the pressure plate on wit the throwout bearing ALREADY on it?
