Adding an EVO8 to the stable
Adding an EVO8 to the stable
Hey i was just writing because i am replacing my wife's Altima with a 2005 Yellow EVO8. I know very little about modding an evo. I currently drive a moddified SRT-4 and have no plans of giving it up. But i feel like once i drive my wife's EVO i will be begging for her car. I rode in a few Evos over the past couple of years. My question is what is the experience like. Driving a 300hp fwd car i am sure is way differerent from AWD. How much work would it take to my the EVO8 get to at least 300whp? My goal is not extreme, i want reliablity but i have gotton used to pulling power with my SRT-4.
First of all, the evo is AWD... the base lancers are FWD. So you're gonna be driving in a 271 crank hp AWD car (puts roughly 230 or so to the ground stock). Getting the evo to 300 awhp isnt a challenge at all. Some exhaust mods, basic bolt ons and a reflashed ecu could prolly get you there, if not beyond 300 whp. What makes the evo supreme to any other high performance car out there is the stock tuned suspension. With minor suspension upgrades your car can outhandle pretty much 90% of the cars out there.
Word of warning, the evo is not very cheap to modify. I've seen too many people sell their evo cuz just the monthly payment, insurance, and maintenance alone (Without mods) was just too much to handle.
