A few Evo questions

Hello All,

First I would just like to say what a great web site! Sure glad I found it.

I'm thinking of buying an 05 Evo VIII (over a BMW 330i) and have a few questions I would like to get feedback on. Not that any of them will change my mind at this point, I'm pretty sure I'll be buying an Evo.

1) How does the Evo work for any everyday car? ie driving to work and back, easy to live with? I have a 40 mile round trip with lots of nice country roads.

2) Every have any issues with rain/snow, etc. going through the hood vent on to the engine, etc.

3) Long trips... would 150 mile one way trips be tough?

4) What is a good turbo timer to go with?

Thanks in advance!

Joe

1) I use it everyday, no problems; absolutely love it and makes me enjoy getting up in the morning to drive to work.
2) I live in seattle, and never have any problems with rain going through the hood other than the occasional blast of steam.
3) Long trips are fine, but you miss the fact that there's no cruise control (my only gripe). After about 3 hrs continuous in the seat I need to stretch, but then I'm good to go again.
4) Don't have one yet, but I'm seriously looking at an Apexi compact.
YMMV,
Greg

Mine's an everyday car. Love it. No real problems in rain or snow, other than traction. The stock tires suck in both. Get some all season tires for the winter and you'll be fine.
I've driven over 800 miles each way in mine, but I wouldn't recommend it on a regular basis. It does get kind of cramped.
I have the Greddy TT and the harness for it. 15 minute install, no real splicing. Works great.
